So epic", Kaia spat out, trying to contain her anger. They were here. For the first time since she could remember she was setting eyes on her parents. And for what?
"It's for your own good", Kaia's mother said, her voice contrite but Kaia wasn't falling for it. All her life, people had looked at her with pity. From the maids her parents had forced to watch after her and ensure she never left the house to the spitting image of herself that was staring at her standing next to a man that couldn't be bothered to care about her feelings.
Kaia stared at her mum. Her mum's sky blue eyes staring back at her without fire inside, her full yet small lips were shaped in a frown and her honey brown hair was packed in a tight bun away from her face. So prim and proper and unmoved. It was like her mum was tired. Of course, her own mother couldn't wait to get rid of her.
Kaia looked around the room she had been forced to stay locked in. It was better to look away from them and not at them because if she did she might break. The fireplace crackled and drew Kaia's attention. The room she had lived in for the past eighteen years seemed so cold with the presence of her parents. The beige painted walls looked gloomy. The white curtains swayed with the level of unhappiness that was floating around in the room.
They wanted to marry her off. She was a liability that they wanted off their hands. So their best option. Marry her off.
Kaia hated her life. She had been made to feel like a nobody, hidden in one little corner because she was an abomination. Her wolf hadn't manifested and she was past eighteen. She was almost twenty. And still no signs of her wolf. So her parents were looking at the quickest option to get rid of her. To hide her default permanently or get her off their hands before people began to notice.
"You'll marry the Alpha of Gaem pack", her dad ordered, done with all the hysterics. "It's a done deal. Infact, it had been done before you were even born."
"But then you were born with your default", her dad scoffed and Kaia squinted, turning her head to face him. This shouldn't hurt anymore. She was used to this but she couldn't help herself. It hurt like a pin was pricking her chest multiple times.
"My default?", Kaia raised her voice. There was no need to even feign respect. She hated the six foot middle aged man that stared at her with eyes filled with disgust and disappointment.
"I didn't ask to be born this way!". "You should have fucking killed me when you discovered I was without a wolf"!
"Kaia!", her mother exclaimed. "Language".
Kaia narrowed her eyes on her mother, her hackles rising even more as questions floated in her head. Had her mother even tried to stand up for her? Or has she been the first to suggest to get her married?
"I can do whatever the fuck I want, mother", Kaia retorted, walking to her bed and bringing out her box. "I guess I should be so happy".
"When's the wedding happening?", Kaia said with disgusting sweetness but she was panicking on the inside.
