Chapter 19 - HANGOVER BREAKFAST

The morning light was penetrating the room casting shadows, it was time to get up. We left the office pretty late and all I wanted to do was crash when I got back home; I was damn tired and I just dozed off the moment I hit the sheets.

Waking up was a struggle but finally, I managed to drag my body out of bed. The good thing about being your own boss is you can get up whenever you want when you have no dire commitments for the day.

After visiting the bathroom, I do my daily workout routine; half of it, it is cruciating. Thirty minutes later I was done for and ready to get ready for the day; taking a proper cold shower, I was refreshed, and next was having a hangover breakfast.

A well-done omelet with everything green in it, slices of chicken sausage, and onion rings. Freshly blended juice on the side with a shot of liquor, I settle down on the counter and have the well-deserved breakfast.

In between the munching, thinking of nothing in particular; someone knocked on the door. Weird I haven't heard a buzz. Is it my neighbor asking if we good hang out for the hundredth time? Hesitating before I get up, I hear another knock on the door.

"It is too early for this," getting up before I reach the door; it opens. Standing at the end of the corridor waiting for the person to show up. Isa walks in with loaded. She didn't see me standing there.

A grocery bag in her arms, I assume breakfast, an overnight bag, and a handbag. She places them on the side table near the door.

"Do you need any help?"

Heaving "Hey you! you up. sorry, I didn't see you there." She says removing her shoes.

I didn't move, she looked like she could manage. She picked up the grocery bag and her handbag and approached.

"I was afraid I would find you with company."

"No, I am alone." I pick up the grocery bag from her and we head to the kitchen.

"I need some of this am dying," she says, drowning the half glass on the counter.

Taking a glass from the shelf and making two more glasses of what I was having.

She lays her head on the counter for a second before she looks up.

"Damn am having a massive headache."

"I know, I'm supper drained out too."

Straightening herself, "you look fresh."

"I have showered," I say sitting down and going back to my breakfast, she picks up a fork and joins me.

"Yesterday was fun,"

"Could you shush?"

"How much did you drink?"

"I went with Will to some party, after you left."

That earned us some silence. My head wasn't having a war of itself but I appreciated the silence. After we were done, I rinsed the dishes as she emptied the grocery bag; fruits, fresh bread, more sausages. She sighs beside me as she washes the veggies and fruits.

"What."

"Excited for today?"

"Yeah."

"Bev?"

I move to the counter to cut vegetables and slice the fruits, giving her my back. She moves to the fridge and takes more eggs and joins me.

"What about Bev?"

"I saw you two yesterday."

Taking a clean dry pan she places it on the cooker and cooking commences. Frying the sausages, and I start the blender.

"Damn!" She takes a swig from the bottle of whiskey that was almost empty.

Draining the contents in a jug, chuckling; "you will feel better after a while."

"Bev."

"Drop it."

"What of the media person?"

She breaks the eggs in a bowl and mixes them with everything she could get her hands on.

"Ell."

"That's her name?"

"Yeah."

"You guys dating?"

"No." She spares me a look.

"We shagging."

"That's it."

"Yeah."

"Do you want more?"

"I don't know, we have done it twice."

"Different days?"

"Yeah."

"You good?"

"I guess, we having a good time, no ties."

"Okay."

Everything is done and while setting plates, there is a knock at the door, and we look at each other.

"Does Ell come here often?"

"She usually calls me first."

There it was again, the person on the other end became impatient.

I around the counter but before I reach the corridor, there is a commotion at the door and the intruder gets in. I go back to the kitchen and Will walks in after me.

"Welcome, Will; this is your house."

"You are here!" Will exclaims as he sees Isa at the end of the counter.

"Good morning folks, that would suffice," I say as I add a plate and a glass for Will.

"Impatient much?" Isa asks.

"Neither of you could get the door."

He picks up the bottle on the counter and takes a swig, I need more of this.

"It is too early."

"The only way to treat a hangover is by drinking."

I passed him a glass after filling it with the jug's content and he drained the glass.

"Phew, I needed this." Will sighs.

"You welcome."

He settles on a chair and we get to eat.

"Yester night was a buzz." Will casually says.

"Tell me about it." Isa chimes in.

"What time did you leave?" Isa asks Will

"Dawn."

"Damn, I left earlier."

"You and Bev," Will says as he digs his plate.

"What?"

"You seemed cozy," he continues.

"You think."

"I told you." Isa chimes in.

What were they talking about, I was only being my sweet self with her, nothing more and that didn't last for long either with everyone around.

"Are you guys a thing now?" Will's interrogation continues.

"No."

"And the other girl."

"Ell."

"Yeah."

"Just hanging out."

"Banging."

"You can call it that."

"I'm happy for you man, and if Bev wants some piece of you, who are we to deny you," Will says.

"It is not like that with Bev."

Isa chuckles, "it will be." and she shares a laugh with Will.

I wasn't going to argue with them, there is plenty of me to go around actually. Our plates cleared. I leave the two and go to the bedroom to get ready and a pack for the road trip before we head to Bryan's place.
