The ride was silent and uncomfortable.
"Can I make some calls?"
"Sure."
Was he asking for permission or was he avoiding talking to me, afraid he would spook me up? Actually he might and I might just drop him off.
"Hello."
And I switched him off. I know they were all work-related and I wasn't ready to put myself through all that torture, and I was tempted to put on the pods back on but decided against it and concentrated on the road.
My mind goes back to Mike and Jade, we hadn't sealed the deal after our talk yet. It is like I have been receiving proposals left and right and nothing to follow up. We haven't talked since and I feel it was more of a drunken night conversation more than anything. Well, apparently that is all I get, proposals and nothing more. I feel like a jilted bride, always left at the altar.
