Khyahgriva, meaning 'one with a horse's neck,' was indeed an Asura from the Daitya clan, and Mara was one of the more outstanding among the Daityas' Asura.

Now this Mara Asura was not only undergoing ascetic practices by himself.

Beside Mara Asura,

there were also two stout-bodied Asuras, equally engaging in rigorous spiritual practice.

These two Asuras were short and robust, with their hair in disarray, wearing black armor, their skin as if smeared with a layer of snow-white grime, looking all white and spotty.

The three of them gathered together, all standing on the edge of an axe blade, striking the same pose to collectively undergo their harsh spiritual practices.
