That era lasted nearly four to five thousand years.
Volcanoes were still brewing beneath the earth, dragons had not yet begun to soar, and both bipedal flying dragons and elves had not yet been born.
Without dragons and the warmth they brought, humans faced endless bitter cold.
"With no records of how humans survived generation after generation during the Dark Ages, it's not like humans could just inexplicably sprout from the warm land like wild grass," Russell said, "Humans must have had some way to survive the Dark Ages."
