Chapter 415 - Chapter 417: Cage

"F? What F? Could it be a corporate logo?"

Surprised, Sun Jack stared at the special mark on the wall, clearly associating the organization—or should he say, company—that had targeted him with this logo, but at least within Metropolis, he had never seen this organization before.

But now was not the time to focus on that, after he etched the logo deeply into his memory, he quickly turned and dashed down the bright corridor.

His eyes continuously scanned his surroundings for any detail, looking around for any kind of network interface.

If only he could connect to the network, if only he could get online, if only he could send out his current coordinates and information! Then he would definitely make his escape!

However, after searching around, aside from the bright lights and the empty corridors, there was nothing else.

"Damn it! What's with this damn place!" Panting, Sun Jack stopped dead, quickly sorting through the map that had just popped up in his mind, only to discover that the corridors seemed endless, utterly different and without any visible end.

At this moment, in this situation, Sun Jack felt as if he had returned to the space station hovering above the Moon.

Everything here truly baffled him, unable to understand why they did this—they had captured him but had never conversed with him. Who were they? What did they want?

Just as Sun Jack racked his brain and couldn't figure it out, something unexpected happened. Suddenly, he felt a tightness under his feet; he quickly dropped to the ground and listened carefully.

The noise coming from afar made Sun Jack's scalp tingle—it seemed like some big creature was approaching!

Sun Jack hurriedly stood up, trying to move as far away as possible from the direction of the noise.

But whether it was because of surveillance or being tracked, no matter how much Sun Jack ran, the noise behind him kept getting louder.

"Isn't there a single door? Damn it! Isn't there any door that's open?" Sun Jack stretched his hand, constantly feeling the smooth walls beside him.

But all of a sudden, Sun Jack stood still, quickly catching on to something. "If there's no network interface nearby, does it mean that the thing chasing me has no network either?"

With that thought, he reached behind his neck and pulled out three data cables, waiting for the thing that was hunting him to arrive.

Whether it was corporate troops, drones, or combat robots, as long as there was a network, he would be saved!

Sun Jack took a deep breath, feeling the ground's vibrations growing stronger, and waited for the other party's arrival.

As the rumbling grew louder and seemed about to emerge, Sun Jack swiftly leaped onto the wall in two or three steps.

With a forceful push of his hands and a powerful contraction of his muscles, he wedged himself tight in the corner where the ceiling met the wall, preparing to catch his adversary off guard.

The next second, as the lights dimmed, the creature appeared, but when it came into view, Sun Jack was momentarily stunned.

He saw a massive, sprawling monster with seven or eight arms, crawling on the ground, looking like a grotesque, twisted version of a flesh-and-blood Hilda.

And this creature, too, bore a large F logo on its chest!

Even stranger, this thing was not only made of flesh and blood but also of metal, with a square cockpit instead of a head, embedded in its skull.

Sun Jie could even see the robotic pilot inside through the glass.

"Holy crap! Which company is this? Is DNA programming technology supposed to be this freakish?"

Just as the monstrous creature raised itself and looked towards Sun Jie, he bit down hard and steeled his heart, quickly leaping towards the thing.

Facing the monster's palm swooping towards him, Sun Jack quickly adjusted his posture and pushed off forcefully with one foot, accelerating into a jump onto the monster's body.

The body of the creature was cold and damp, stepping on it made him feel sick to his stomach.

No sooner had Sun Jack landed than two deformed arms seized his legs.

But Sun Jack didn't bother with them, setting his sights directly on the cockpit.

With a few "thud, thud, thud" sounds, the glass shattered under Sun Jack's fists, and with one pull, he directly yanked the robot out of there.

Without the robot's control, the huge flesh monster instantly stopped moving.

Without hesitation, Sun Jack pulled out a data cord intending to plug it into the neural slot behind the robot's neck, hoping to connect to the network through the robot's system.

However, accompanied by the sound of flesh tearing, Sun Jack's data cord head made a bloody mess of the opponent's neck; astonishingly, the robot had no system slot!

"Fuck! What the hell is going on with this damn place!"

Sun Jack angrily threw the robot aside. He didn't know if it was meant to prevent his escape or for some other reason.

When Sun Jack looked down, intending to ask something, he found the robot had already powered down.

Just as Sun Jack thought he had wasted his effort again, when he looked up at the huge body of the monster before him, his eyes suddenly lit up.

"Wait, maybe there's another way!" Sun Jack jumped right into the cockpit and started fiddling with the controls.

He didn't know how to use this thing, but he didn't need to know how to use it; he just needed it to move.

Under Sun Jack's control, the huge flesh monster's body began to twist and move, as if dancing a grotesque dance, its huge palms slammed down hard, making deep pits one after another in the wall.

"That's right! Just like this!" Sun Jack operated more vigorously, and with each powerful blow, the nearby wall was finally smashed open.

"I have a chance! Finally, I can get out of this damn place!" Sun Jack leapt down excitedly and rushed towards the hole; peering carefully into it, he found it to be pitch black.

Gradually, light appeared, and the interior looked very minimalist, about twelve square meters in size. Judging from the mechanical equipment, it seemed to be some kind of surveillance room.

Sun Jack went inside, approached a transparent console floating in mid-air, eager to connect to the network.

When he saw the familiar data port, Sun Jack felt tears come to his eyes; he had finally found it.

As he plugged in the data cord right away, a soft female voice resounded the next second, "Data serial number 13223C, name: Sun Jack."

With the sound, a holographic projection appeared before him, a brain, a brain immersed in liquid with Sun Jack's name written below it.

"Project status: Brain in a Vat, Brain storage location: 28113.11223 8S Consciousness Prison."

And just as Sun Jack was shocked looking at all the information before him, suddenly, the ceiling above him opened.

A huge eye made of 0s and 1s loomed from above, looking down on him.

With a light glare from it, everything around Sun Jack digitized and quickly reassembled.

When all the changes had completely vanished, Sun Jack found himself back in his previous cage.
