"Pfft~" Sun Jack, who was drinking water, almost choked to death. His face flushed, and he hammered his chest with his hand before looking back at the desk, almost thinking he had misheard.
However, the girl from AA not only wasn't angry but confidently straightened her chest as if having her uterus removed was something to be proud of.
"I....what the hell...." Sun Jack's pupils quivered, completely shocked and dumbfounded by the scene before him.
Meanwhile, the conversation in the distance continued, "Very good, moving on to the next question. You know our company's working hours are quite short, just 8 hours, which is only half of the regular working time.
"So, are you willing to be in a level 6 state of neural excitement at all times during working hours?"
AA hesitated at these words, "Do you mean, you want me to take drugs?"
"What drugs? Stuff that won't cause addiction, that's called a work supplement!" The woman in high heels slapped the table, scaring AA into silence. "If you don't want the job, there are plenty in line who do!"
"But I...have no money...and I'm still paying off loans...I can't afford work supplements...."
The female HR casually looked at her flowing nail polish, her tone gradually softening. "Don't worry about that. The company has prepared low-interest loans to foster newcomers. You can repay it with your first week's salary."
Hearing this, AA clutched her clothes tightly, her expression full of struggle.
She hesitated, but Sun Jack had already stood up, thinking these outrageous demands were a joke.
Just as Sun Jack was about to find an excuse to leave, a black man beside him suddenly stood up.
He said excitedly, "I'm willing! Not only will I take the work supplements, but my pineal gland and hypothalamus have also undergone level 2 modifications. I can now go without sleep. Just give me this job, and I'm willing to work an extra five hours for free!"
Upon hearing this, Sun Jack carefully moved towards the door, his pupils trembling. This place was too terrifying, he wanted to go home.
"And you? Compared to these two, how much are you willing to contribute to the company?" The woman in high heels finally turned her gaze towards the last interviewee, Sun Jack.
Sun Jack stopped, turned around, and smiled at her. He nodded towards the other two, then he threw his paper cup forcefully to the ground, angrily pointed at HR, and exclaimed, "Contribute my ass!"
"Damn it, what's all this about willingly removing a uterus, and borrowing money to take drugs at work? What kind of hellish capitalists are you? Even Satan would have to tattoo your image on himself! And he'd only dare tattoo one with closed eyes, too scared to handle one with open eyes! Have you ever heard of a company being run like this?!"
"Heh, sir, Metropolis is Freedom City. Our company has the freedom to make offers, and you have the freedom to decline if you find them unreasonable. That's very fair," the female HR stood up, arrogantly scrutinizing Sun Jack's outfit.
"This freedom? Fuck that! It looks like your neck is itching for a hanging lamp post!"
As the argument heated up, the other two applicants quickly distanced themselves from Sun Jack to avoid jeopardizing their chance of passing the interview.
Hearing Sun Jack still making these remarks, the other party didn't want to waste any more words and coldly waved her hand, "Security."
With a rumbling sound, a security guard in a bulging suit pushed open the door and walked in.
"Your interview has failed, please leave our company," the towering 2.5-meter security guard said politely, looking down at Sun Jack as if he were a human tank.
Even without X-ray vision, Sun Jack could sense the various combat prosthetics armed to the teeth underneath the security guard's suit.
```
Sun Jack couldn't help but laugh. He pointed at the thing in front of him and then at the woman before him, "Ha, security? This is called security, haha, I'm convinced, totally convinced."
Feeling indignant, the first thing Sun Jack did after leaving the company was to search the labor bureau system, ready to report them fiercely, but he was met with a big fat 404 right in the face.
"Why?" Sun Jack, unable to comprehend, had just spoken when his nervous system automatically provided him with the answer,
because Metropolis is Freedom City, where every company and individual has the right to have the utmost freedom.
The labor bureau, a department that hindered the free development of companies, was thus an evil interference in the market freedom and should not exist.
"Damn it! Damn damn damn!!! Is there not even one normal person in this godforsaken place?" Sun Jack was on the verge of madness.
Tapai walked over to Sun Jack, "Why are you out? Did you fire them because you thought the salary was too high?"
Sun Jack couldn't be bothered with him, turned around, and looked at the somewhat shabby entrance of the company, "Shit! I refuse to believe it, Tapai, find me another one! With over 30 million people, I refuse to believe they're all like this!"
Finding a job that met Sun Jack's criteria wasn't easy, and by the time he found another after being picky, it was already getting dark.
And this time, Sun Jack was the first one, a cold-faced HR sizing him up, throwing out another icy question, "Would you be willing to have a hysterectomy for our company?"
"Go castrate your damn self! Are you bloody blind? I'm a man!!" Sun Jack, outraged, flung his paper cup away and stood up angrily.
"Ah, my apologies, the recent gender confusion trend had misled my judgment, no matter, then I'll ask again, sir, would you be willing to get castrated for our company?"
"Bang!" Sun Jack landed a steel straight punch on the other person's face.
Two hours later, Sun Jack, with a bruise on his face and a listless expression, slowly walked towards his apartment in the pouring rain.
His eyes were blank and his expression numb; the experiences of the day had shaken his worldview more than anything had before, even more than the previous day.
How could working a nine-to-five job be even more abstract than being an outlaw like Song 6?
He couldn't figure it out, he really couldn't, whether this was still his world, how could it have turned into what it is now.
A "bang" from the exploding fireworks nearby made Sun Jack turn his head; he realized he had unknowingly arrived at Club 69 which Song 6 had previously brought him to.
Just then, the club's door opened, Sun Jack saw AA, who he had interviewed with, walk out, looking utterly dejected.
When she stepped into the rain, she could no longer contain the grievances in her heart, covered her face, and began to sob loudly.
Sun Jack had his own troubles to deal with; he had no energy to care about others and continued walking towards his apartment.
But hearing the increasingly heartbroken sobs behind him, Sun Jack heaved a deep sigh, turned around, and approached AA squatting on the ground, "What's wrong? Are you okay? Come on, pull yourself together."
AA, choking up, looked up and tremblingly pointed back at Club 69, "They... they said I don't have a uterus, that I don't meet the qualifications for a sex worker! And I haven't found a job... sob sob sob sob sob..."
