Hiding behind the glass, Sun Jack tightly bound his sleeve to stop the bleeding.
This body didn't have a Pain Editor, and the pain from his severed arm made him shiver all over.
But the continuous hail of bullets forced him to keep going, he had come this far, retreating now was meaningless.
Listening to the harsh clashing noises near his ear, he looked to the Poet beside him, realizing from the outset that there was something special about this guy, even though this body hadn't undergone DNA programming.
Yet it seemed as though he could control every muscle in his body with precise accuracy, indeed, there wasn't a single person locked up in this prison who was ordinary.
Sun Jack shouted to him, "Poet! You're faster than I am, can you dismantle it? If you can, I'll cover you!"
The Poet's face was filled with excitement, seemingly oblivious to what death was, he nodded to Sun Jack with a grin, reciting that filthy poetry from his lips.
"In those most intimate lies, in the blackest night of despair. With hands wishing to drag the JB hard on the ground, he wanted to make JB submit, he wanted those white tears to flow and fill the ground, to be covered in dust and dirt!"
"Alright! Get to it!" Sun Jack took a deep breath, his legs forcefully pushed off the ground, and he bolted out, rolling quickly to the left with the barrage of bullets following him like a shadow.
In the moment when Sun Jack drew the bullets' attention, the Poet swiftly leaped toward that side.
He charged out with a battle cry, lunging towards the distant automated turret, "Ah~! JB!!"
As Sun Jack was about to be swept by a blanket of bullets, the gunfire suddenly ceased; the Poet had neutralized the automatic turret.
Sun Jack, gasping for breath, gave the Poet a thumbs-up.
But before he could enjoy the moment, the electricity gate nearby swished open, and two members of the FFP clad in Exoskeleton Armor burst in.
Facing Sun Jack who appeared before them, they didn't hesitate and lifted their laser emitters.
The next second, gunfire rang out, the Poet, with both hands controlling the automatic turret, sprayed bullets at them crazily, "Ah~jb!~! In the face of the destruction of two hands! JB held on, he didn't fall! He succeeded!"
Seizing the chaos, Sun Jack rushed forward to engage the enemy in close combat.
Although his body hadn't been genetically modified, Sun Jack's years of combat instincts were still present.
With the Poet's covering fire, Sun Jack, after a struggle, eventually seized their weapons and, without hesitation, pulled the trigger on their heads, brain matter and blood spraying all over in an instant.
"Ah! The vanquished~~ silent at once, Ah! The victor~~ yet also wailing." The Poet's chant continued as the gunfire gradually stopped.
Facing the Poet who was approaching him, Sun Jack picked up the heavy weapon from the ground and tossed it to him.
"Awesome! I really underestimated you, were you a Lone Wolf Mercenary before?"
The Poet chuckled and shook his head, then immediately began to conclude his new poem. "Why does JB wail? Why is JB in agony? Because he knows, victory will never come, every time the night falls again, the sinful hands in his mind reach out for him once more!"
"Time to move forward," Sun Jie said, tilting his head to the side.
"How was my freestyle?" The Poet seemed more concerned about others' opinions of his literary work than his own formidable strength.
Sun Jack didn't take up the other person's words and continued to walk further in, holding his gun, he cautiously said, "Poet, why are you content to stoop to death?"
"For the sake of seeking inspiration, what else could it be? Since ancient times, death has always been the most eternal topic of poetry." The Poet had just finished speaking when Sun Jack stopped him, "Don't move, there are invisible mines."
As soon as Sun Jack's words came to a close, the mines started deactivating their camouflage and sprouted six legs, quickly crawling towards him.
Sun Jack, while shooting rapidly, said, "You know? I don't quite believe in Saotome or UO, they all have their own motives. Compared to them, I prefer dealing with someone as pure as you."
"Hahaha, I think so too." Accompanied by the sweeping bullets, the self-destructing mines exploded one after another.
"I'm not joking with you, I really think so! Buddy, it only takes one person to input the virus, Saotome probably got both of us to increase the success rate."
"How about this, when it's time, I'll go first when we need to input the virus. If I succeed, then you don't have to die."
The Poet grinned foolishly at Sun Jack. "Why would you save me like this? I am already prepared to die."
"It's not about saving you, I'm not that selfless, it's just a trade." Facing the enemies that appeared ahead, Sun Jack pulled the trigger and started firing.
"To increase the chances of success, remember to do me a favor after you get out. If Saotome and UO don't keep their word, then please tell them everything that happened here. As to whether or not you want to help them stop the FFP Plan, that's up to you."
In the midst of gunfire, the Poet turned around and laughed in response, "Sure thing, you'll be the first man to die for me, ah! I'm inspired again, I want to compose a poem!!"
"Stop fucking around! Don't forget we only have 27 minutes, time is almost up!!"
Although both Sun Jack and the Poet were skilled, by the time they reached the prison AI console, their bodies were clearly battered. Sun Jack's leg had been blown off by a self-exploding mine.
"Brother!" Sun Jack, covered in blood, patted the Poet's shoulder heavily. "I'm off, remember the promise you made to me."
"All right," the Poet gave Sun Jack a thumbs-up.
Sun Jack took a deep breath, trembling as he pulled out the data cable from behind him, preparing to insert it into the data port.
He was about to die, his mood very calm, but with a tinge of reluctance.
The hardest moment had passed, yet to die here, it really was somewhat unwilling.
"How is everyone doing? What's the situation in Metropolis now?" Thinking of these questions, Sun Jack was about to plug in.
However, the next second, Sun Jack suddenly felt his body lighten, immediately followed by a huge force, he was pulled out.
As he stumbled to stand firm, he saw that the Poet had actually taken his place.
Sun Jack's eyes widened in shock as he stared at him. "Poet, what are you doing?"
"Haha, I just wanted to see what it feels like to die for someone else~~~" Without hesitation, the Poet plunged the data cable right in.
The next second, his body started shaking violently, and smoke began to emanate from it.
The trembling Poet laughed and looked at Sun Jack, raising his hands high in a rock salute, falling stiff onto the ground.
