When the train departed from Rongma, Her Highness the Princess made a point to come and say farewell. The northern nobles seemed already aware that their princess and Malin had fulfilled their agreement—they didn't know she saw them as foes.
Such is the bitter fruit of asymmetric information.
Malin nodded his head in greeting, which was a gesture of courtesy. His girls, on the other hand, hugged Nova goodbye, playing out a scene of deep sisterly affection.
And the princess, she didn't skimp on the hugs either. She embraced Malin and Rewo, and even kissed the former goodbye.
The latter grimaced with distaste.
In the matter of facing the princess, Malin found he had something in common with Rewo.
"I see a vengeful spirit bent on revenge," Rewo said bluntly.
Malin could relate to that. He knew all too well what a girl of her age would do to survive.
