With no harm done, the armored vehicle delivered Li Pan straight to his old apartment's front door; the giant wolves didn't even catch a glimpse of the taillights.
Li Pan got out of the car and threw up the acid in his stomach, wiped his mouth, rinsed his face with rainwater, and walked into the apartment building, rubbing his nearly numb right shoulder.
It was deep into the night, the rain continued pouring, and the wonton stall had packed up for the day. Reeking of sweat, Li Pan had no choice but to hit the vending machine and grab a bunch of protein bars, gnawing on them while waiting for the elevator.
"Wait! Hold on! Wait for me!"
Hearing that voice, Li Pan instinctively knew who it was and held the elevator door open, allowing Orange, who was also drenched, to squeeze in.
