About seven or eight minutes later, the door to the private room was pushed open again—Harrington returned, followed by Masko himself.
However, upon seeing David and the others in the private room, Masko was utterly baffled and turned to ask Harrington, "Harrington, is this the important person you mentioned? I don't recognize him!"
"Mr. Masko, this is... the Internal Revenue Service's Inspector David!"
"David!"
On hearing this, Masko was initially startled, then hurriedly shifted his gaze onto David's face, sizing him up.
"There's no need to look any further, Mr. Masko, it is indeed me."
After hearing David's voice, Masko was still visibly astonished and said, "I did not expect to see the renowned Inspector David here today. May I ask what brings you to me?"
David did not reply immediately but turned to look at Harrington.
Although Harrington was curious to know what the two were about to discuss, seeing David's dismissing look, he knew to take the hint and left.
