Watching the three individuals express themselves, David nodded with satisfaction. However, he also noticed a subtle unease among them and reassured them, "Don't worry. I called you here today not to target you, but to offer you a benefit."
"Benefit?"
The three exchanged glances, skepticism lurking in the depths of their eyes.
David's tactics were well-known; no one who had been approached by him was known to have gained any benefit. Instead, one by one, they would either bleed profusely or be skinned.
"That's right. The Wall Street Journal, along with a host of other media, have recently launched fierce attacks against me. As members of the media industry, you must be aware of this."
"Regarding this matter, I must explain, Director David, that the Wall Street Journal and the other media outlets have nothing to do with me. It wasn't me who instructed them to do this!"
John, fearful of being misunderstood by David, hastily clarified.
