Mars...
Martian civilization...
Over three billion years ago, Mars was a planet abundant in water resources, and it was here that the ancestors of the Martians first emerged.
The earliest Martians were quite similar to Earth's octopuses, but they didn't possess such advanced genes or as many brains, nor could they edit their own genetic information. Initially, their form closely resembled a hybrid of jellyfish and octopus.
After an exceptionally long period of evolution, the ancestors of the Martians began to stand out, spurred by a biological catastrophe on Mars. A certain type of algae proliferated explosively in the oceans, leading to a mass extinction of marine life. By chance, the Martian predecessors found refuge in an inland sea formed by a massive earthquake, similar to the Dead Sea on Earth, though the concentration of salt was not as high at its inception and was more akin to a normal ocean.
