What do you need to become a god?
Is it the thought of equality, the fearless courage, or the infinite magic power?
None of those.
It's greed.
Gods are different from immortals; immortals are about abandoning the mundane and Becoming Immortal. To become a god, however, is to ascend, gathering the Willpower of the masses in oneself and ultimately climbing the Steps to Ascend to Godhood.
It's like a bottle. Becoming immortal is about cleansing the marrow, transforming a turbid bottle into an immortal one, smooth and new, detached from the mortal world. Becoming a god, on the other hand, is about expanding that bottle over and over in the face of the torrent of collected Willpower, until it's large enough to contain it all.
So, how much greed do you really have?
