Chapter 31: Gerald and DDLFO! The Battle Of Hell!
As the battle between Gerald and DDLFO continued, channels of wind were sent around Aridronia as authorities questioned what was going on deeper into the desert. As DDLFO threw punches at Gerald, he used the sizzling fire he obtained, enlarging it with his wind. As he converted it into blue fire, he landed a critical hit on DDLFO, sending him flying across the desert. As the dust settles, the chaotic entity stood up once again, charging at Gerald desperately. "Shit. Will I be able to take this guy down? I landed an attack on it, yet it's perfectly fine." Suddenly, as DDLFO shook Aridronia with a single roar, multiple pounds of sand lifted up around him, creating a shimmering tornado in Gerald's wake. "Shit! Can I escape that!?" he exclaimed in horror. As lightning rained on the battlefield, the sand continued to rise around DDLFO, creating the mysterious element called Mythium. Mythium was an unusual element: only people who were extremely well trained could use it. DDLFO had been locked up for more than 3,000 years, making it an ancient entity. Mythium had a yellow-blueish colour, making it blinding to the naked eye.
As Gerald's fire continued to crackle, DDLFO's Mythium rained all over the battlefield, forcing him to dodge the deadly attack. As Gerald saw all the bright colors around him, he was caught off guard, making him fly into the skies of Aridronia. As DDLFO used the Mythium in a snake formation, it grabbed Gerald by his foot, slamming him back onto the ground at immense speed. Gerald, injured by the impact, got back up as he wobbled in fear. "You may have thought this was cough over…" he exclaimed, pulling off his leather, white jacket. As DDLFO continued to roar and bend the Mythium it possessed, Gerald transformed into his Fire Hurricane form once more, charging at the menacing entity. "I'LL MAKE SURE YOU DIE!" he exclaimed loudly as he flew into the sky, attempting to land the life-ending attack. As DDLFO controlled the Mythium it possessed, pointing at the target, Gerald, forced the unknown element to charge at him. As the element of hell and Gerald's Blue Fire Net collided, an explosion was sent through the entire region of Aridronia and Sunspire, sending thunder throughout the sky. "Damn!" Gerald uttered, holding his attack in the intense clash. "This entity is too strong; I may barely make it out alive!" As the final explosion to the short yet climatic battle was casted, everything went plain white in Gerald's eyes - like a nuke had just struck the entire region of Death Desert. As his ears continued to create a high pitched sound, Gerald screamed in agony, desperate to escape. "I can't do this!" he said, flying away from the battlefield. "I think… I'm passing out!" he exclaimed. As he continued to be in the midst of the impact, everything went black… just plain black. "I won't die… here." Gerald said, desperate to stand victorious. As Michael and Samantha glared at the slightly broken orb that formerly held DDLFO, Samantha proceeds to grab it from the pillar it stood on. "We can use this to absorb DDLFO once again, if we survive the harsh conditions of Death Desert…" Michael sighed. "Of course we're going to survive, everything's gonna be perfectly fi-"
Michael froze in unease.
Grabbing Samantha's hand, he used his grappling hook to connect the two faraway platforms from the treasure room to the entrance. As Samantha screamed, she heard a sudden explosion and alarm coming from the treasure room. "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?" she exclaimed. Michael looked at her, soaring across the sky as he held her hand. "Don't worry, we just have to escape this pyramid!" he exclaimed. As the duo finally arrived at the entrance to the Room Of Death, Michael used his fire to ignite the door in flames, making their escape easier. "Come on!" Michael said, leading the way for his friend. As the daring escape continued, enormous boulders the size of an entire ferris wheel rained down on Michael and Samantha. Suddenly, the original path they had used collapsed, showing the lava below. "How are we going to get across!?" Samantha cried out in distress. As Michael scanned the room, he saw an opening, connecting the outside world and Saharasul. "Hold on tight, Samantha!" Michael exclaimed, attaching his grapple hook to the hole. As Michael and Samantha jumped over the sizzling lava, Samantha let out a sudden scream, showing her level of fear she had for the pyramid. As their escape continued, a gigantic boulder followed the other ones, snapping the grappling hook in its path. As Michael and Samantha fell, an idea hatched in Michael's head as if a lightbulb had just turned on. "I got it!" Michael exclaimed, listening to Samantha's annoying screams. "Samantha, use your ice!" he exclaimed, preparing to execute his attack. As Samantha's ice bloomed across the fiery path. Michael jumped across the hellish pyramid, holding Samantha's hand tightly. "WE'RE GONNA MAKE IT!" Samantha exclaimed in a happy tone as they soared up to the blue light outside. Suddenly, another boulder came tumbling down once again, forcing Michael to cancel his jump to freedom. As he landed on the boulder (which was as big as a football field,) he continued to hold Samantha on the road to freedom, using the boulder as a boost. As they got closer and closer, the light finally shined on Samantha's face as she tumbled out of the pyramid, thinking all was finally well.
As Samantha rubbed her eyes, she looked around for her best friend. "Michael! Where are you?" Samantha quired, looking around the exterior of the pyramid. As she looked back at the gigantic hole, she saw a distressed Michael hanging on for his life at the edge of the pyramid. "MICHAEL!" Samantha shouted. "HERE, LET ME HELP Y-" As he used his other hand to slap Samantha's hand away, he smirked. "Don't save me, Samantha." he said quietly. "I'll make it out of here alive… Just find Kevin and the others!" Samantha generated tears from her eyes, raining down her cheek. "Michael, don-"
It was too late. Michael jumped back into the chaos the pyramid had held. Despite Samantha's cries, he kept his smile of sacrifice. "At least I know Samantha's safe…" he said, fading away in her view
