Ken had been attentively listening to Sam's explanation, but a nagging question suddenly arose in his mind. Sam had stated that he took Ken to a secluded area to recover from his injuries, away from the marauding beasts. Afterwards, Sam single-handedly eliminated the remaining fifty or so beasts that Ken had failed to defeat.
Ken's thoughts turned inward, scrutinizing Sam's words. "If Sam took me to a secluded area to heal, he must have used something to accelerate my recovery," Ken reasoned. "But Sam claimed that vampires can't heal naturally, except if a certain factor was put to use."
Ken's curiosity piqued, he wondered what that 'Certain Factor" might be. Although he has a rough idea of what it could be, he didn't want to dwell on the unsettling possibility, so he decided to confront Sam and ask him for clarification.
"You didn't take me directly to the academy," Ken began, his curiosity evident.
