Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 How to Really Like Someone

Last night, Wei Shiran had only planned to meet with Lu Xian, so both were surprised when they saw Gu Chenxiao.

They silently exchanged a few glances.

Not to mention that Gu Chenxiao was supposed to be in a foreign country, even if he weren't, he seldom frequented places like this.

He wouldn't come over even if specially invited, but today, he showed up unannounced.

Gu Chenxiao said nothing.

He was even more reserved than usual, somehow out of place even though he was there.

Wei Shiran and Lu Xian exchanged another look, both completely baffled.

If it couldn't be guessed, then why guess at all.

They started talking about other topics.

Speaking of Wei Shiran's marriage, Lu Xian sighed, "I never thought you, the wanderer of love, would agree to marry young, and to an arranged marriage, at that. It's totally unexpected. I thought someone like you wouldn't settle down until thirty at least."

Wei Shiran leaned back comfortably on the couch, saying indifferently, "If I have to marry sooner or later, what's wrong with doing it a bit early?"

Seeing him like this, Lu Xian sighed and shook his head, "You beast... A perfectly decent girl is about to be spoiled by you! It's a sin, really."

Wei Shiran smirked scornfully, "Don't make it sound so ugly, saying 'spoiled'. Since it's an arranged marriage, how deep do you expect the couple's feelings to be? You know my family's situation—all about matching social status. Besides, to me, it doesn't make any difference who I marry."

Lu Xian was used to Wei Shiran's carefree attitude.

Suddenly, Wei Shiran thought of something and, with a wicked smile, scooched closer to Lu Xian, draping an arm over his shoulder, "Xianxian, don't rush to pity me. Look, your family situation isn't much different from mine. You probably can't escape an arranged marriage either. I'd remind you, take advantage of now and go have a romance, no matter who or what status the other person is. Otherwise, when you're married and look back, realizing you've never truly liked anyone in your entire life, that's gonna be really sad."

"Beat it," Lu Xian wanted to hit someone after hearing that.

Talking is one thing, but why put a curse on him?

Wei Shiran dodged with a sly laugh, about to speak when a magnetic, husky voice suddenly interjected, sounding a bit out of place, "What does it mean to like someone?"

Wei Shiran and Lu Xian were both startled.

They turned their gazes simultaneously toward Gu Chenxiao.

Gu Chenxiao's sudden question took them by surprise.

That kind of question, coming from Gu Chenxiao, really felt discordant.

Could it be just pure curiosity?

Before Wei Shiran could speak, Lu Xian was already looking up the answer on his phone, "To like is a term in Chinese, also used as 'to be fond of', meaning to be delighted, happy. It refers to having a good feeling or interest in people or things. Liking is actually a feeling, including appreciation, admiration, esteem..."

"Stop, stop, stop!!" Wei Shiran couldn't stand it and interrupted him, "You're misleading the youth here. If you don't know, don't talk nonsense, really."

Lu Xian disagreed, giving him a disdainful glance, "You know?"

Wei Shiran huffed proudly, "Of course! Do you think your brother Shiran would run around the field of love for so many years and not know what it means to like someone?"

Gu Chenxiao looked at him, uninterested in his lengthy nonsense, "Speak."

Wei Shiran, in fact, had quite a bit of experience in love, the women around him changing monthly.

He indeed had abundant experience in romance.

Wei Shiran said, "If you fall for someone, you would do weird, silly things just because of a word she says. When you can't see her, you'll be thinking about her all the time. You often remember what she says, and whatever you do, you think of her."
