In the twenty-seven years of Han Luoli's life, clothing repair was a foreign concept that appeared for the first time. Although he had faced quite a few difficulties growing up, he had never experienced any shortage in his clothing or general living needs; in fact, it could even be considered luxurious.
A damaged garment would never have a second chance to be worn by him. And no one close to him had ever seriously offered to mend it for him, saying, "Let me sew it for you."
There seemed to be an emotion welling up in his chest, a feeling called "home."
Han Luoli had been leaning against the door, arms crossed over his chest, standing there in a daze.
When he came back to his senses, Gu Xiaoer had already taken out a needle and thread, sat cross-legged on the bed, and started sewing carefully under the light of a table lamp.
The needle went down, and came up again, occasionally brushing against her hair, her professional look was reminiscent of a mother's.
Han Luoli was moved at that moment; he took two steps onto the bed and hugged Gu Xiaoer tightly from behind, resting his head in the nape of her neck, his starry eyes squinting, enjoying the quiet happiness of the moment.
"Xiao Er, once I'm ready, I will tell you everything..." he silently said to himself, "When the time comes, you must not be angry with me, okay..."
Soon, Gu Xiaoer shook her neck, shaking her shoulders to get Han Luoli to let go, and held up the mended garment like a treasure for him to see, "It's done, take a look!"
Immersed in happiness, Han Luoli slowly opened his eyes. When his gaze fell on the suit jacket, his deep eyes changed several times, eventually resulting in a "Pfft," as he burst out laughing.
"Baby..." he complained innocently, could he say it looked like it had been chewed on by a dog? The black suit had white thread used to sew on the buttons, the ends of the thread not tucked away, but instead exposed in a bold and curvy statement.
With a flurry of movements fierce as a tiger, but the result... was so unexpected?
"Hey, what's with that look?" She pouted, still not satisfied.
"Baby, let's leave this kind of physical work to someone else in the future, how can I bear to see you do it yourself?"
"Are you saying you don't like the way I sewed it? It's, it's because I don't have black thread!" She stood with her hands on her hips, arguing with a sense of guilt: "Anyway, your clothes aren't worth much, don't be too demanding on the craftsmanship, okay!"
"Not demanding at all, not demanding..." Han Luoli sincerely promised.
It wasn't even fully light yet, and the annoying ring of the cell phone broke the peaceful early morning dream, a small hand emerged from the covers searching for the source of the sound, fumbling around.
Suddenly the phone seemed to stop ringing, and the receiver was placed to the ear, with an energetic voice coming through immediately.
"Xiao Er, you haven't forgotten what day it is today, have you!" Ai Le's voice, brimming with excitement, came through the phone to the still groggy Gu Xiaoer.
"...Mhm." She managed to respond after a struggle, her mind elsewhere.
"Gu Xiaoer! Can you hear me?" The other side increased the volume.
"Okay... alright..." She responded half-heartedly, utterly indifferent.
"Gu Xiaoer, wake up! I'm giving you an hour to get back to school, or else I'm coming to your place to drag you out!" The thunderous voice boomed.
"Okay, Xiao Er knows!" A voice as elegant and magnetic as a cello spoke out and transmitted through the phone to Ai Le.
"!" What was going on? Why was there a man's voice?
Ai Le was utterly baffled. By the time she tried to speak again, the other side had already hung up. Gu Xiaoer, I will skin you alive today!
