Gu Xiaoer received a call from Shen Minghan and felt a moment of surprise before remembering that she had been hospitalized a few days ago and had promised to return to the hospital for a check-up. She had no choice but to excuse herself from Ai Le and headed for the hospital with a heavy heart.
Actually, she could have chosen not to go. But a tiny voice inside her told her to go, maybe she would get some news about Han Luoli?
With Shen Minghan by her side, Gu Xiaoer's health check was completed quickly.
Lost in thought, she held the health report and accidentally bumped into Shen Minghan in front of her.
The man turned around in surprise and saw Gu Xiaoer rubbing her nose with an embarrassed look, "What's wrong, Xiao Er, not feeling well?"
"No, Brother Minghan, I've been busy with designs lately and got a bit muddled," she replied.
"That..." Gu Xiaoer continued, wanting to ask Shen Minghan if he had seen Han Luoli, but not knowing how to start.
In the end, it was the perceptive Shen Minghan who seemed to know what she was thinking. As if casually making small talk, he smiled gently, "Don't follow Luoli's example and forget to take care of yourself when you're busy. He is a workaholic and often skips meals and sleep when he's engrossed in work."
His implication seemed to be advising Gu Xiaoer. He had seen the worry in the girl's eyes and the hesitation in her words, and felt he had to clean up the mess for that man, only hoping that Han Luoli would handle it properly in the end.
Brother, this is all I can do for you.
Gu Xiaoer bit her lip, looking down shyly, her cheeks flushing. Was she that obvious, that people could see through her so easily?
But then thinking about Shen Minghan's words, so Han Luoli had gone to work. Did he find a new employer for the month, so he didn't come to see her, didn't call, couldn't contact?
Forgetting to eat and sleep, she couldn't agree more. Such physically demanding work required that kind of commitment, didn't it?
Knowing he was alright, a weight lifted from her heart, but it was quickly followed by an inexplicable sense of loss and sourness in her chest. While she was here worrying about him, and indirectly inquiring about his whereabouts, Han Luoli was probably out there enjoying himself without a care. She was annoyed with herself for being so sentimental. After all, it was just a lease, nothing serious!
Of course, Shen Minghan had no idea what Gu Xiaoer was thinking. If he did, he would have certainly cleared up the misunderstanding, which was quite significant!
After a few turns, they arrived at the blood-drawing section.
"Xiao Er, you should have another blood test," said Shen Minghan nonchalantly, a barely detectable twinkle in his eyes, fleeting.
"Eh, didn't I just have one last time?" Gu Xiaoer asked.
"Last time was last time. This is a new check," he explained.
Gu Xiaoer didn't suspect anything and obediently let the nurse prepare her arm with iodine and insert the needle.
"Xiao Er, you like Han Luoli, don't you?"
Shen Minghan's gentle voice came from behind her, soft and light, like a feather touching her heart.
"Hiss." Gu Xiaoer was startled, not realizing she had moved her arm, and winced in pain.
She stuck out her tongue apologetically to the nurse and quickly sat up straight. As for Shen Minghan's question, her mind was in a whirl and she had no idea how to answer.
"If you like him, trust him," Shen Minghan said, just as the nurse finished withdrawing the needle. Gu Xiaoer couldn't focus on pressing down the gauze on her arm, her thoughts scattered as she nodded in a rush, "Brother Minghan, I understand. If there's nothing else, I should be going now."
Shen Minghan watched with a sense of resignation as the girl hurriedly fled, then turned to the tall figure at another corner who appeared out of nowhere. He smirked, "She's run off, now go after her!"
