It was just that the Grand Empress Dowager watched as she ate several wild vegetable pancakes, half a dish of pickles, drinking a bowl of mushroom soup...
It was really too plain.
"Lady, the servants have prepared the mooncakes, shall we bring them now?" a Palace Maid came in and said with a smile.
"Hmm, bring them, it's the Mid-Autumn Festival, time to eat mooncakes. Can Noble Lady Ming eat them? What filling does she like?" the Grand Empress Dowager asked.
"Not sure yet, haven't tried, no particular filling I crave." Actually, what I would like is wild vegetable filling...
But making mooncakes with wild vegetable filling, uh, best not trouble the chefs.
"Then bring a few of every flavor, let's try them, whichever one she can eat, she eats," said the Grand Empress Dowager without fuss.
Before long, seven or eight kinds of mooncakes were brought over, all pre-cut.
