The Shanghai Racetrack began construction in 2002, and had already signed a contract with FIA to host the F1 Grand Prix Hua Country event from 2004 to 2010.
The track and main grandstands were to be completed by March 2004, ahead of the International Automobile Federation's inspection, with the Hua Country race scheduled for September 26, 2004.
The total length of the Shanghai circuit was 5451.24 meters, with seven left turns and seven right turns. The average speed was 205 kilometers per hour. The longest straight was 1175 meters, located between turns T13 and T14. The track width ranged from 13 to 15 meters, typically 14 meters, widening to 20 meters at the corners (turns T14/T15).
At 4:10 in the afternoon, a convoy had already arrived at the racetrack!
It was not open to the public on a regular basis, but once an event was held, it immediately became the center of attention for the entire world.
