Mid-September in Magic City brought a dryness to the air.
Today was the weekend, and for Sun Qiu Man, a senior Computer Science major at the University of Science and Technology, it was unlike any other boring rest day. Early in the morning, she received a call from an unfamiliar number.
The call was from a beautiful chairwoman she had met a while back in the financial tower in Magic City. Qiu Man remembered that her surname was Zhan, and the staff referred to her as Chairwoman Zhan.
Before Qiu Man could wonder what the woman wanted, the imposing chairwoman set a time and place to meet and then hung up.
A bit bewildered, Qiu Man hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided to go and see what this was about.
She invited her best friend, Liu Shiyin, and a close dormitory mate, Xu Shanshan, and the three of them headed towards the agreed-upon location.
