The current abbot of Biyun Temple is not Master Yime, as he was the abbot several generations ago, hence he is reverently referred to as the Old Abbot. In the eyes of many devout visitors, the Old Abbot is seen as a living Buddha. Among the wealthy families with Buddhist beliefs who seek blessings, those who wish to meet the Old Abbot must personally visit and make an appointment.
Even this visit is merely to have the junior monk Shouxin relay a message, and if the Old Abbot does not wish to see a guest, he will refuse. Even so, those wealthy families would not get angry but only feel regretful. The Old Abbot's prestige is very high, and even Wen Dingmo once personally commented that the Old Abbot alone could stabilize a region. Therefore, Wen Zhongyuan hoped that the Old Abbot would take his side and visited several times, but to no avail, as the Old Abbot remained unmoved.
