Tang Ye and Tang Manhong followed the one-browed Abbot to a small courtyard. The courtyard was simple, with a main house for receiving guests and two smaller side rooms. The courtyard was quiet, with osmanthus and roses planted at the front, where one could still see the beginning signs of withering flowers.
The one-browed Abbot invited Tang Ye and Lin Yourong to take a seat before instructing Shouxin, the young monk, to make tea. Shouxin, with a face full of grievance, looked quite pitiful. Lin Yourong, seeing this, couldn't bear it and, after saying a word to Tang Ye and the one-browed Abbot, went to help Shouxin. The young monk's face lit up with a smile, no longer looking so morose.
In the main room, only Tang Ye and the one-browed Abbot remained, sitting opposite each other. Tang Ye looked at the one-browed Abbot and narrowed his eyes. Not beating around the bush, he said directly, "Abbot, you seem to recognize me, but if I'm not mistaken, this is our first meeting, right?"
