Tang Ye started driving from the city area at seven o'clock when the sky turned dark, following the map to a township, then from the township into the mountain roads, navigating the real mountainous paths. These mountain roads weren't cemented or asphalted; a stretch near the town was reluctantly covered with pebbles, but further into the mountains, it was all dirt roads. These dirt roads were very problematic: dusty on sunny days and muddy during the rain.
