I suppressed the urge to go up and give Min'er a good "tidying up" and continued to lower my head to look at the document in my hands.
Since I had to socialize that evening, I ordered some takeout in advance to have a bite to eat beforehand.
The delivery arrived quickly, but because of factory regulations, the delivery guy couldn't come in. I still had documents in my hand, so I sent Min'er, who was playing with her cellphone, to fetch the takeout.
But after waiting a long time, Min'er still hadn't returned. I frowned and pulled out my phone to call her, but after many rings, nobody answered.
At that moment, panic set in, and a bad feeling began to envelop my heart.
I put down the document in my hand and quickly headed outside. When I reached the door, I looked left and right but couldn't see Min'er anywhere.
Just then, the security guard, who was idling around, came out from the back. When he saw me, he seemed nervous too: "Mr. Lin, are you here to pick up your item?"
