I signaled Chen with a look to step out, and understanding the cue, Chen tactfully walked out and even closed the door behind him.
I poured a glass of water for Jing An and handed it over, "Senior brother, why did you come here in person? If there was something you needed, a phone call would have sufficed. It's a real hassle for you to come all this way."
Jing An plumped down opposite me, picked up the glass on the table, and guzzled down the water. After finishing, he wiped his mouth, seemingly unsatisfied, "Hey, the situation arose suddenly, I had no choice but to come myself."
After speaking, Jing An seemed to realize he'd said something amiss and shot me a meaningful look. I, however, returned his gaze with an innocent expression, as if I didn't grasp the deeper meaning in his words.
