Chapter 32 - Elena Nava aka CyberCat

Elena "Cybercat" Nava, a former NetWatch agent, had managed to retire at the surprisingly young age of 34, a feat that raised eyebrows among those in the know. But she had her ways. After years of service and accumulating insider knowledge, Elena orchestrated her own disappearance, meticulously faking her death and reaping the substantial life insurance payout provided by her former employers at NetWatch.

The nickname came from her modded cat ears, a quirky choice she had made during a night of drunken mistakes, replacing her human ears. Now, she resided in the relative safety of Mega Building H4, a sprawling monolith in the heart of Night City. From her new home, she lived a life far removed from the high-stress world of corporate espionage and cyber warfare. Her days were filled with the mundane routines of a retiree: sipping soykaf in the morning, enjoying the occasional late-night Braindance, and working on odd cyberrunning jobs when the mood struck her.

In the quiet corners of her modest apartment, she had built a cozy haven filled with vintage vinyl records and a comfortable cyberdeck setup. These were her cherished escapes from the chaotic and dystopian reality of Night City. As Elena navigated her way through retirement, she found solace in the timeless tunes of rock music, a passion that had never waned.

However, her peaceful existence was soon disrupted when a new neighbor moved into the apartment next door. Elena's concern stemmed from the neighbor's possession of a high-ranking NetWatch cyberdeck it was highly unusual. In her years at NetWatch, she had known only a select few who had access to such advanced technology. The fact that she couldn't recognize the new neighbor from her time at NetWatch was even more perplexing and worrying. Had they found her?

She decided to discreetly inquire about the newcomer within the building's community. Yet no one knew anything about her, not even in the building's system. It was a mystery, and Elena loved a good mystery.
