Felix awoke in the infirmary of the academy, where the same old man stood over him with a cheeky smile. "Hehe, did you expect to see a hot nurse, huh?"
"Yea, I did. Yet, instead, I get to see a wrinkly old man."
The old man's smile slightly twitched, but he quickly recovered. With a slight cough, he announced, "Well, this old man is also the headmaster of the Slayer Academy."
Felix went silent for a second before he quickly responded, "Of course, I would love to gaze at your magnificent appearance." Although he mumbled under his breath, "although a hot nurse would have been better."
"I heard that!"
"Hmm? Heard what?"
"Tch! Never mind, you shameless brat. Listen well, Felix! Due to your performance in the assessment, you have been given a special rank and will be moved into the special class. A class where only the elite are able to thrive and where the ultimate prize is their own vessel to command. Of course, such things can be worried about later. First, welcome to Slayer Academy, Cadet."
The headmaster offered Felix a handshake, and he quickly accepted it. Felix's thoughts were as simple as they could be, completely obsessing over his enrollment in the special class, not knowing that an even more brutal hell awaited him there compared to the regular class. A few minutes later, Felix was discharged and moved to his own room. His room had its own private bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen. It was similar to a small apartment, although on the bed lay his uniform. It was a fitted metal mech suit that covered his entire body, it was mainly black with areas of gray. Next to it lay a heavy-duty helmet that covered his face and was equipped with a tinted visor, along with a yellow strip on its left side. Felix stared at the suit with a smile and quickly put it on. Once he was finished, he looked in the mirror to thoroughly inspect his new look. His armor perfectly fit him, giving his lean body a more muscular appearance. His night-black hair almost perfectly matched his suit, and his proud golden eyes provided a perfect contrast. All in all, Felix was quite the handsome fellow.
Very quickly, he put the last remaining piece of his uniform on, completing the look of a Slayer. Only a few seconds after he was finished, he noticed a small blue interface through his visor and an order from the headmaster.
{ Report to the Training Grounds, Cadets! }
Felix had no clue where the training ground was, but luckily a small blue pathway filled his vision. With a confident smile, he quickly made his way toward the training grounds and the beginning of his journey. Very quickly, he found himself in the middle of an empty field. Standing there were five groups of five, a clear indication of a Slayer Team.
Although, Felix quickly found himself out of place as he was the odd one out!
His lips twitched slightly, and he asked the headmaster, "Uhm, sir? Where am I supposed to go?"
"Well, maybe if you didn't take so long, you would already be in a squad. Sigh, I guess you'll just have to go alone."
Felix smiled sheepishly, although his eyes suddenly gained a devious glint. "So sir, is there any motivation or incentive for this exercise?"
"Of course it does! While we may be a peacekeeping group, no man will work for free!"
"Hehe, that's good. I'm also guessing, normally this supposed reward would be split, yes?"
The headmaster suddenly grinned and spoke with an amused voice, "Of course! Although, if by some miracle you win, not only will you get the reward to yourself, I'll even increase the reward, you cheeky bastard!"
Felix grinned at the headmaster's agreement and suddenly noticed another reason to reach the first place in this training. In the corner of Felix's eye, a small golden panel appeared with lines of text.
[ Quest: Uphold the War God's Dignity!
Objective: Earn first place in the training.
Reward: First function of the system will be unlocked.
Penalty: First function will forever be lost. ]
Felix laughed in his mind and began to have slight doubts about this training. Although he wasn't sure about the criteria for a quest to be given by the system, he doubted any of its quests would be easy considering it was called the War God System. Although, that didn't mean he would back down!
"So, headmaster, what's this training going to be?"
"If you would let me finish, I would have already told you. Anyway, this will be a competition between the teams, a battle for the crown. Each team will be assigned a King, who must be protected at all costs. If they are eliminated, then the team is immediately disqualified. However! That is not the main objective. You will be transported into a small, controlled combat zone. In this zone, the cadets in the normal class will have to defend areas, and your goal is to destroy as many of those areas as possible. Each area will give you either 1, 2, or 3 points depending on its size. Of course, if another group were to eliminate a king and grab their medallion, then all their points will go to them. Any questions?"
In the front of one of the lines, a man raised his hand and quickly asked, "Are any points awarded for defeating a King? Or any other participants, for that matter?"
"Hmm, who knows? If we gave you everything to succeed, it wouldn't be as fun, would it?"
The headmaster responded to the cadet's question, but he had an amused smirk plastered on his face the entire time. He was enjoying their annoyed looks. Hell, he could even tell they were asking themselves why he asked for any questions in the first place! Just then, small blue text appeared on every cadet's visor. The text was simple and clear, but it would become the cornerstone of their upcoming exercise and training.
{ Make your way to the Armory, Cadets, and begin weapon selection for the upcoming battle! Also, we have forgotten to mention in this exercise, there will be a possibility of death! }
