Tyren Lantern the failure of his family. Was he corrupt ?no, was he lazy? no, was he uncaring? no. Tyren The oldest son was scorned because of his non existing talent by his father and mother, even his younger brother. After an event of listening in on a conversation with his family revealing their true feelings he runs away at the age of thirteen, and makes a deal for power becoming the Death Knight.
A boss you could one shot with the right equipment.then never again brought up.A character that was to color to the world and add story to a party member. Tyren Lantern the joke of Hero's Legacy.
Hero's Legacy is a game with many branching paths and thousand ways of fighting, And a thirteen year old Tyren awoke with all this knowledge.
"I must be training too much," the teenager said, scratching his head. "Like my father would see me as a failure, or my mother thinks me a fool" The boy assured himself. He wasn't a natural when it came to swordplay like his father or Fire magic like his mother, but that wouldn't stop him. "That was certainly some dream though".
He told himself, making his way to the training area of his home he stopped at the door the reason he himself wasn't sure of. It was his father Owen the paladin of the goddess of light Valada and his younger brother Oliver who was only ten years old and already was showing his incredible talent.
The paladin was sparring with his son as if the two were dancing, While his father and brother were clashing his mother Amma came through the other entrance to the arena. "Mom!" Oliver exclaimed as he dropped his sword and ran over to hug his mom. Owen, seeing that training had basically ended, Sheathed his sword and he too walked towards his wife.
'This is what I'm training for' Tyren thought, trying to push last night's dream out of his head. He was bettering himself to help them the best he can, so he could fight side by side with his family against the forces of darkness. As Tyren was going to stop this silly game, Oliver started talking.
"So … where's that failure of a brother" that stopped Tyrren dead in his tracks. 'That was a dream' he told himself his father would obviously tell him off for saying that. "We talked about saying that stuff while outside" Amma told her child sweetly as if he said the sky was red.
'It was a dream, this isn't happening, but it was happening just as in his dream and he was begging for it to change. for his mother to turn to the door he was standing behind and say it was rude to listen in on people and to tell off Oliver for saying something so cruel, or for someone to wake him up out of this nightmare. But his brother kept talking
"What im just repeating dad, I mean he even quit trying to fix that bastard!". Sorrow and embarrassment filled Tyren's heart.' He's lying father was just busy', he told himself Owen is the head paladin of the Order of Light and his brother was of training age. His father told him that it was a warrior's right to find his own path.
Owen started talking "Please let us not bring him up while in here. It will ruin the mood." but he didn't "if maybe he was like mom and he was at least good at magic, or if he at least looked like you, i mean i look more like your son and im adopted!"
Yes Oliver was adopted, but it never stopped Tyren from loving him and treating him as his own. Then Owen spoke up"Hey blood or no blood you are our son" Amma Immediately agreed with her husband and made a joke about the stork making a mistake, "oh it definitely can make mistakes, white haired freak."
Tyren's eyes burned he gave up on this being a joke or a dream he just sat behind the door softly weeping. 'Everything has gone according to my dream' he lamented, his tears kept falling.
'Oliver will now tell mother about how she pities me too much', and as if he saw the future his brother spoke.
"Mom you really got to stop pitying him, he's a failure and we should just tell him that. I mean he's already given up on the weapon of the paladin, have you ever seen a paladin wielding a spear."
Tyren listened to his brother as his brother effortlessly and without pausing, verbally ripping him apart.
After no progress with the sword he had switched to the spear and actually saw some progress. 'What's wrong with the spear and what's wrong with my hair?' after thinking that, his mother finally piped up.
"Oh and how do you think we should go about it, walk up to your brother and" Oliver interrupted her "Oh no, he's no brother of mine." Owen laughed at his son's statement. "That's right, a true warrior must always state his opinion and fight for his beliefs.
At this point Tyren is supposed to run from this spot and not to be seen until Oliver's fifteen birthday where he crashes it.
'Not this time' he told himself as he picked himself up, opened the door and revealed himself to his thought to be a loving family. They turned to look at him and he stared at them with tears in his eyes.
Silence, utter silence Amma was happily laughing along with her son and husband but the moment the white haired boy revealed himself, she looked like she saw a phantom and almost immediately started looking down. His brother Oliver, who seemed like he couldn't stop talking about Tyren's faults, just looked at him with shock.
"Father?" Tyren broke the silence and looked to the man he respected most. Owen Lantern the champion of Valada and heaven's proclaimed savior. A man who has saved more lives than Tyren could imagine. His father, his teacher, and the man who was to show Tyren the way of the world.
Owen stood there and stared back at Tyren. Unlike Oliver's fear or Amma's apparent shame, the man faced his son with an indifferent look.
The training room was agonizingly silent until Owen finally answered his apparent failure of a firstborn.
"You're not like us Tyren". After getting his answer Tyren closed his eyes and went back through the door and weakly closed it. Amma tried to run after him but Owen stopped her. "He'll accept it one day" he assured her "yeah he'll have too if he wants to suck up to me" the boy laughed and having fantasies of his future, him holding the holy sword Loadal and his brother at his feet.
Amma breathed out a sigh and looked away from the door. Tyren stood there, behind that door was a warm and loving family that he mistakenly thought he belonged to.
Pain burned in his heart as the tears kept pouring. Then a voice grew in his mind 'never again' it grew in volume and as he stood up and became an inner battlecry. With each step it grew 'never again will i be looked down on ,never again will i stay low and be silent, and never again will i be Tyren Lantern'.
He was now running, but not to an exit out of this place that was his home. He was running to an almost forgotten place. Owen's study there were two powerful items in the game.
Tyren had awoken with almost infinite knowledge of his world and as he entered the study he went to a sparse bookshelf and found what he was looking for.
A small and thin book with an all white leather cover and the only thing written on the cover was a name Tyren knew all too well.
Dyre Lantern, father of Owen, His once grandfather. After grabbing the old man's journal Tyren searched for a short while and found them, Atlas stones.
'Smash one of these while thinking of a certain place and it will take you there for free.' He thought as he had found the two of that were in Owen's office so it was just enough for what he planned to do
So putting the second Atlas stone in his pocket, and keeping the book close to his chest. He then crushed the first Atlas stone in his hand, and thought of the place he needed to go.
The Great Plains.
