The hooded figures were gone, the chamber empty save for me and the tall figure. They stood over me, their expression unreadable. "It is done," they said quietly, their voice filled with a strange mix of satisfaction and sadness.
As I struggled to sit up, my mind raced with thoughts of escape. The tall figure seemed momentarily distracted, lost in their own thoughts, which gave me a small window of opportunity. I glanced around the dimly lit chamber, searching for any possible exit or weapon I could use. The only light came from a few flickering torches on the walls, casting eerie shadows that danced across the stone.
Gathering my courage, I decided to make a run for it. I leapt to my feet, wincing as my legs wobbled under me, still weak from whatever ritual I had endured. The tall figure snapped back to attention, their eyes narrowing as they realized what I was doing.
"Don't even think about it," they warned, their voice low and threatening.
