Chapter 398 - Chapter 399: Lynn’s Mother? Family Drama?

Traveling alone in the Forsaken Land is far from pleasant. The monsters lurking in the darkness, observing and waiting to strike, or the darkness and solitude themselves, could easily shake the resolve of an ordinary person.

However, for Lynn, these weren't problems. The only minor inconvenience was that he couldn't use his Planeswalker scroll to directly reach the Giant King's Court and had to rely on shorter teleportation.

Fortunately, the distance between the Silver City and the Giant King's Court wasn't too far, so he didn't spend much time on the journey. He soon arrived at Afternoon Town and then entered the "Giant King's Court."

Unlike the rest of the Forsaken Land, shrouded in darkness, the Giant King's Court was bathed in an orange-red glow. This wasn't ordinary sunlight but the light imbued with the powers of the Twilight Giant Pathway. Under this light, he could feel his body growing weaker and more fatigued.

But this influence was negligible for him, something he could easily ignore.

Lynn's gaze was drawn to the grand, magnificent buildings towering above. Numerous palaces and high towers still retained the remnants of the Second Epoch's glory, as if manifesting the legends of myths.

'I didn't expect that I would be the first of my alternate selves to reach the Giant King's Court...' He muttered to himself as he stepped towards the buildings. He passed through numerous palaces and halls, and soon, he stood before the most grandiose and splendid palace of them all.

Here, the influence of the Twilight Giant was particularly evident, yet he remained unfazed. His eyes were fixed on the palace's main gate, which, as described in the original, was gray-blue, adorned with symmetrical, mysterious symbols, and towering well over ten meters, forcing him to look up.

Then, he noticed a pitch-black hole, roughly the size of an adult's fist, on the left side of the gate, three or four meters above the ground.

Lynn blinked, realizing something he had overlooked—he didn't have the key.

In the original, Klein had the key to open this gate when he reached the Giant King's Court.

But he obviously didn't have a key.

However, this wasn't a problem for him. If it had been before today, he might have struggled with this gate. But now, after solving the trouble with Bethel and gaining a bit of something from his True Self, opening doors was the least of his concerns.

As long as he wished for it, all the doors in the world would open for him.

So, he simply raised his hand and, like a guest knocking politely, tapped on the door twice.

"Knock, knock—"

Immediately, the various symbols, marks, and patterns on the Giant King's Palace door lit up, radiating a dazzling array of colors that could nearly blind an onlooker. After all the lights intertwined, the door swung open, revealing the turbulent, pitch-black, viscous, and illusory Sea described in the original.

Lynn stared at this illusory Sea. The power it held was so familiar, capable of easily corrupting any soul unprotected by a Sefirot, yet it posed no threat to him.

"Sigh..."

He suddenly let out a sigh, filled with a sense of melancholy and a hint of nostalgia.

He then raised his hand and casually pressed down. The entire Sea's power was suppressed in an instant, leaving no trace behind.

He continued forward, walking leisurely as if on a stroll, ignoring the disorienting power that filled the palace, the illusions, and all other obstacles. Eventually, he stepped into a cold, dim palace that was completely out of place with its surroundings.

He finally stopped, gazing into the deepest part of the palace, where a black throne, clearly meant for a giant, stood. Seated on the throne was a man with shoulder-length, slightly curled black hair. His left elbow rested on the armrest, his palm supporting his face, as if he were asleep.

Lynn quietly observed the man, as if it were their first meeting. He took in the details of the man's dark robe, intertwined with silver threads and adorned with intricate patterns and luxurious ornaments. He noted the vast, dark wings that covered most of the man's body and the face that appeared blurred to others but was crystal clear to him.

"You can finally rest now, Sasrir."

He suddenly smiled, as if he were making a playful remark.

The spirit of Sasrir on the throne remained motionless, still seemingly lost in eternal sleep.

"Why feel sad? If you want, you can change his fate, can't you? My dear little Lynn."

A voice, tinged with amusement, echoed through the palace, but Lynn wasn't surprised. He simply put away his smile and looked to the side of the throne. There, unnoticed until now, was a young girl dressed in black and yellow silk. She held a black fan to cover her face, revealing only a small portion of a face that could only be described as delicate and beautiful. Leaning casually against the throne's armrest, she seemed like a weak and innocent bystander.

But Lynn seemed to see through the fan and glimpsed the girl's true form hidden beneath the illusion—a bloated, tentacled humanoid creature. To be honest, it was extremely disgusting, causing Lynn to frown almost instantly and even take half a step back.

The girl with the black fan clearly noticed Lynn's undisguised disdain. She immediately adopted a sorrowful tone, as if deeply hurt by Lynn's reaction, and said, "There's an old saying: 'A dog does not dislike its poor home, nor does a child despise its ugly mother.' Are you planning to be a bad child, little Lynn?"

Lynn instinctively rolled his eyes. He looked at the girl with the black fan, not hiding his disdain as he chuckled, "Heh, so am I the dog or the child?"

"Of course, you're my dearest..." The black fan girl's voice was affectionate, as if whispering to a beloved family member. But in the next moment, she burst into laughter, "Husky!"

"Heh!" Lynn wasn't surprised in the least. He coldly sneered at the girl with the black fan and said bluntly, "This world isn't your domain. Get lost and go back to where you came from."

Even though he had no recollection, Lynn spoke these words as if by instinct.

"But you're my good child. Your domain is my domain, isn't it?" The black fan girl spoke in a tone of innocent logic, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. As she continued, her voice even sounded as if she were about to cry, "Or do you hate me, little Lynn?"

"It seems you're quite self-aware." Lynn wasn't moved by her act in the slightest, only responding coldly.

"Waaah... waaah..." The girl with the black fan seemed genuinely hurt by Lynn's cold tone. She started to cry, all the while accusing him, "Bad child, not even recognizing your own mother! Boo hoo hoo... Little Lynn is such a bad child!"
