Chapter 292 - Chapter 293 : Lynn is Made to Look Like a Good Child

As he saw both people step into the script he had written, Lynn's expression remained unchanged, still displaying dissatisfaction. He continued, "So why don't you know what happened next? Did you separate from me after that?"

Bethel was stunned upon hearing this. He hadn't expected Lynn to bring the topic back to the previous one so directly. However, Bethel, who had become accustomed to Lynn's erratic conversation style, pondered for a few seconds before replying.

"Sorry, I can't answer that question either. Perhaps you can ask the other you personally."

Regarding Lynn's simultaneous existence in multiple timelines and the synchronous changes to the past, Bethel was not prepared to divulge this information. Especially since he noticed that Lynn might be preparing to shed his past, Bethel considered that revealing this could lead to unnecessary complications. Thus, he decided against it.

"If he were going to tell me, he would've done so already. Do I still need to ask?" Lynn pouted and, like a child sulking, handed the Master Key back to Klein, saying, "You can't talk about this, and you can't talk about that. What's left to discuss? Mr Fool, you talk to him; I have nothing more to say."

Holding the Master Key, Klein found the situation somewhat amusing but not surprising. Lynn had always been somewhat childish and not at all mature and composed, so Klein could only clear his throat lightly and make excuses for his little partner:

"Sorry, Lynn is just frustrated because the Angel of Secrets has kept too much from him. He means no offense to you."

"I'm not angry..." Bethel's mood was also somewhat complex. He said, "I'm just a bit surprised... I didn't expect to see Lynn like this."

Bethel certainly wouldn't get angry over something like this. On the contrary, seeing this Lynn, who sulked because of being kept in the dark, seemed so mild in Bethel's eyes.

If it were the Lynn he was familiar with... Images of various people and their tragic fates flashed through Bethel's mind, making him feel that this humanized version of Lynn was indeed the most conscientious one.

It wasn't Bethel's fault for feeling this way. The initial encounter, where Lynn brutally beat the Bitch Tree, had already left a deep impression on him. After that, with an attitude of letting go and not caring about consequences, Lynn bombed Amon, beat Tudor, teased Antigonus, held a tea party with the gods, and kidnapped Azik from the God of Death's domain.

One could say that the Lynn in Bethel's understanding had always been rather biased.

"Huh?" Klein was momentarily stunned and then, as if realizing something, his expression also became subtle.

Although he hadn't experienced those events, he had just heard Bethel recount them. Thus, Mr. Fool now had a deep understanding of just how wanton and domineering the past Angel of Secrets had been.

Compared to that figure, the somewhat mischievous and husky-like Lynn suddenly seemed like a good child.

Though Klein had a slight suspicion that this perception might be because Lynn's sequence wasn't high enough yet.

'No, it shouldn't be...' Klein couldn't help but glance at his husky little partner, who looked back at him suspiciously.

"Are you badmouthing me in your mind?" Lynn asked.

"No!" Klein shook his head firmly without a moment's hesitation and continued contacting Mr. Door as if nothing had happened, "In your opinion, is there a big difference between the current Lynn and the past one?"

Bethel was silent for a few seconds, evidently contemplating, before shaking his head and saying, "There might be some differences, but essentially, they are the same person to me."

Klein sighed in relief. He had indeed worried that the current Lynn might be vastly different from the past Lynn. If that were the case, it would present a problem—when Lynn regained his memory, would the current him be replaced by his past self?

As Lynn's friend, Klein naturally didn't want this to happen. Therefore, for him, it was best if the past Lynn and the current Lynn were not too different.

"It seems you and Lynn have a good relationship," Bethel suddenly remarked, with a hint of emotion in his tone.

"Lynn and I are indeed very good friends," Klein admitted openly. Although they hadn't known each other for long, he and Lynn had a very strong bond.

This was partly due to their shared transmigrator status and the fact that they had gone through many experiences together. Their personalities also matched well, leading Klein and Lynn to become close friends, almost like brothers.

This wasn't a one-sided perception; both had come to see each other as dear friends.

Thus, Klein was willing to accompany Lynn in his search for his past and consider all of Lynn's matters. Similarly, Lynn firmly supported Klein's ascension to become the Lord of Mysteries. Even as Lynn met more people, Klein remained one of his closest friends, comparable only to Medici and the fatherly Sasrir.

"That's good," Bethel said, suddenly changing the topic. "You should be a Sequence 7 Magician now, right? Do you have any questions? I might be able to help with my knowledge of the Fool Pathway. If it's about other Beyonder fields, you can also ask me. I should have some knowledge of most things."

Klein blinked, sensing that Mr. Door's sigh had some underlying story, but since Mr. Door clearly didn't want to discuss it, Mr. Fool wisely shifted the topic, earnestly consulting Bethel on various mysticism questions.

This consultation made Klein lose track of time. When he finally snapped out of it due to depleted spirituality, he still felt a bit unsatisfied.

Bethel, indeed deserving the title of the angel of the three pathways, had such profound knowledge that it left Klein, a somewhat specialist and self-taught Magician, in awe. He learned many new things, including special applications of certain abilities and important considerations when impersonating corresponding sequences.

"Don't rush; we still have plenty of time. You can always ask me these questions again... After all, I have nothing else to do besides teaching you now," Bethel said kindly, sensing Klein's depleted state.

"Thank you very much for your guidance today, Mr. Door," Klein sincerely thanked Bethel. They exchanged a few more words, but before ending the contact, Klein turned to Lynn and said, "Lynn, we're about to end this contact. Do you want to say a few more words to Mr. Door?"

Lynn hesitated for a moment before taking the Master Key from Klein. He said:

"Bethel, I thought about it and decided that from today on, let's consider this our first meeting. We'll discuss other matters later."

"Hello, Bethel. Nice to meet you."

Bethel was silent for a few seconds, then seemed to laugh. The sound came through the Master Key to Lynn's ear.

"Hello, Lynn. It's nice to meet you too."
