Chapter 149 - Chapter 150: Klein's Mind in Turmoil

"However, the existence of another world… isn't this something that only happens in novels? If it weren't for those familiar feelings, I'd suspect you two were teaming up to fool me."

Lynn muttered, showing that while he believed Klein's words, he still found them incredibly surprising.

"And you…" Lynn then looked at the divine avatar and continued, "You and I are essentially the same person, or rather, two different entities from the same split soul. I lost my memory and power, while you still possess both… Seriously, same person, but the difference in treatment is too much!"

Lynn grumbled in dissatisfaction before adding, "Also, my former self had the ability to foresee, predicted Sherlock's appearance, and probably knew I'd lose my memory and split. Under such circumstances, you showed up at a prearranged time to guide me to… meet him."

As he said this, his gaze fell on Klein. "I won't ask about your secrets, Sherlock. You've always been mysterious. In short, my current situation is to recover my memory and power, retrace the path to divinity, and eventually, our souls will merge again, with me as the dominant personality, right?"

His gaze finally settled on the divine avatar.

"Yes," the divine avatar nodded gently with a smile. "I am looking forward to that day."

"You really are a weirdo. Who would look forward to such a thing?" Lynn frowned and muttered before asking, "I now have just two final questions. First, why did you guide me to meet Sherlock?"

This question also perked up Klein's interest. He was equally curious.

"There are many reasons. You can consider it fate's guidance. All I can tell you is that it is beneficial for both of you," the divine avatar replied with the familiar smile. "After all, haven't you been getting along well?"

Klein frowned but didn't argue. He knew it wouldn't be easy to get answers from the Angel of Secrets.

But is it really beneficial for both of us? Klein didn't think the statement was false. Despite being mysterious and manipulative, the Angel of Secrets hadn't shown any malice.

Maybe their plans indeed lead to mutual benefits.

"Always this cryptic nonsense. Someone is going to sack you one day!" Lynn expressed his displeasure before moving on to the second question, "Since you both say we come from another world, can we go back?"

Upon hearing this, Klein immediately turned to the divine avatar. Among all the questions, this was one of the most critical to him. Returning home had always been on his mind.

The divine avatar looked deeply at Lynn for a moment before shifting his gaze to Klein. Facing their anxious eyes, the Angel of Secrets seemed to sigh before saying,

"That question… I cannot give you an answer for now."

Klein felt a surge of disappointment, but just as he thought the Angel of Secrets would end the topic there, the avatar suddenly looked at him.

"Klein, I've always had a question for you." The avatar's gaze was serious for the first time, breaking his perpetual smile.

Being addressed by his true name, Klein was momentarily stunned. He also noticed Lynn's thoughtful look but ignored it. The feeling from his spirit urged him to be serious as he asked, "What question?"

"For you, is returning home more about the era, or the family and friends you care about?" The Angel of Secrets' voice was calm but carried a weight akin to a destiny-altering decision.

"I…" Klein was stunned, memories of his past flashing through his mind. After a moment of silence, he answered, "Strictly speaking, it's both. But if I had to choose which is more important, it's my family and friends."

Klein admitted that he was just an ordinary person. His desire to return home was driven not only by nostalgia for his era but more so by the yearning to reunite with his family and friends. He didn't want his parents to bury their child.

If he had transmigrated to a world similar to his previous one but devoid of his loved ones, Klein would still seek a way to return.

"Just as I expected from you." The Angel of Secrets was unsurprised. With the same expression, he said something that made Klein's eyes widen:

"Klein, strive to advance. I can't guarantee you will return home someday, but if your goal is merely to see your family and friends again, I can make a promise."

"I will help you reunite with your family."

"But, before that, if you fail to advance to a sufficient Sequence, you may cut off your chance of meeting your family again."

"What did you say?" Klein stood up abruptly, staring incredulously at the Angel of Secrets.

He understood every word but couldn't believe the combined meaning. It felt like a dream.

"Shh!" The Angel of Secrets made a gesture for silence again. "Alright, little Seer, I know you're excited!"

"But this topic ends here. I'll answer the rest of your questions next time. I just hope that by then, you can give me a satisfactory answer regarding your progression in the Sequence." The smile was as warm as ever, but the tone was unusually firm.

"I—" Klein swallowed his unspoken questions. He could tell the Angel of Secrets was serious. Pressing further might yield no answers and could even result in negative consequences.

But even with the questions held back, Klein's mind was in turmoil.

The Angel of Secrets' words were too unexpected. For Klein, who always wanted to go home and see his family and friends again, the information just received had turned his thoughts into a tangled mess.
