Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: The Mission (Edited)

"That would be very helpful, thank you," Klein responded, his mind stirred by Lynn's offer.

Klein was indeed concerned about how to network with his peers in Backlund. For a detective, connections were crucial, especially since Klein's mission required him to gather as much information as possible. Integrating into Backlund's detective circles was very important for him.

Lynn, in a good mood, started humming a little tune.

Meanwhile, at 16 Minsk Street, a notebook lying quietly on the coffee table had its pages fluttered by the wind. On its pages were flowing lines of text:

"...Following Lynn Sotos' suggestion, Ian decided to seek refuge with the Evernight Church. With Ian's information, the Nighthawks in charge of the Turani von Helmosuin manuscript case decided to use the manuscript as bait, proactively luring the Intis spies into a trap, and eliminating these troublesome rats."

"...The Intis spies suffered significant losses, and Becklan faced deportation."

"By a twist of fate, Bakarland discovered that Ian's decision to seek the Evernight Church was influenced by Lynn Sotos. In extreme anger, Bekarland blamed everything on the innocent detective Lynn Sotos and decided to send his most trusted subordinate, Rosago, to kill this annoying detective before being deported."

"No one anticipated this development..."

The wind blew again, closing the book's pages.

In the living room across the street, Lynn continued to hum his tune and sip his tea.

'Hmm, with this, I should soon witness the famous scene with Rosago!' Lynn reminisced about the original story's scene involving Rosago, and couldn't help but chuckle. Suddenly, Lynn's expression changed; he sat up straight, looking more serious.

"What's wrong?" Klein was startled by Lynn's sudden change. He instinctively scanned the surroundings, suspecting Lynn had sensed danger, making Leonard instantly alert as well.

"Nothing, just remembered something…" Lynn shook his head, smiling at Klein and Leonard. "But I'm a bit tired today and want to rest early. Sherlock, you have a spare room, right?"

Klein frowned slightly. He sensed Lynn Sotos was hiding something but didn't press him. "I do have a spare room, though I've just moved in, so I haven't bought new bedding yet."

"That's fine, I can manage," Lynn replied nonchalantly.

Meanwhile, in the Second Epoch, Lynn, almost caught multitasking, patted his chest in relief, muttering to himself:

'That was close. It seems I need more practice with dual-tasking. It's too easy to sync up when things happen. But since I've always shown my quirks, it shouldn't be a big problem.'

As he muttered, Lynn looked up at Sasrir and asked, So tomorrow, the Annihilation Demonic Wolf will fight the Goddess of Moon Lilith?"

Yes, Lynn's excitement that caused the synchronization was because Sasrir suddenly informed him and Medici that war was imminent.

"Strictly speaking, tomorrow Lilith will take action, and the vampires will clash with the demonic wolves. But the true battle involving the ancient gods will take some more time," Sasrir corrected.

"So it's almost time for the fight?" Lynn summarized.

"You could say that," Sasrir smiled helplessly, then looked at the two young ones and asked, "Aren't you curious about what exactly will happen?"

Although Sasrir had conspired with Amanises in front of Lynn and Medici, he hadn't explained everything, still keeping the two with him near the Land of the Demonic Wolf.

"For example, you and Amanises plan to kill the Annihilation Demonic Wolf, letting the humans gain the upper hand, while Amanises uses this opportunity to advance?" Lynn speculated based on the information he had.

Medici seemed thoughtful. As a naturally intuitive Weather Warlock, he hesitated for a moment before saying, "The Goddess of Moon Lilith is also our ally, right?"

"Correct, you are both very clever," Sasrir nodded. He was pleased to see that his two wards were exceptional.

Sasrir continued, "You know the humans' current situation. Though the Lord's appearance has saved some from the oppression of extraordinary races like elves and dragons, the Lord's power is not yet enough to directly confront all the Mad Gods. So we need allies and their strength to gain an advantage."

He didn't elaborate much, as schemes are best kept secret until they are executed.

Medici seemed to understand, while Lynn, already knowing the plot, blinked and asked, "So what do Medici and I need to do?"

"You're not yet qualified to participate in this level of conflict. I brought you here to broaden your horizons," Sasrir said warmly. "But you do have your tasks."

Lynn and Medici immediately sat up straight.

"When the real war begins, try to save as many people as possible…" Sasrir sighed. "I need to assist Amanises, so you two will need to stop any deranged killing by the demon wolves or vampires, and rescue the innocent. Providing them with protection and salvation is your mission."

Lynn paused, then solemnly nodded. "I understand. I'll complete this task."

"Ugh!" Medici pouted. As a natural-born mythical creature, he didn't fully grasp the significance of this but also nodded. "I'll try my best to save those weak humans."

"Does Lilith really think I'm dead?"

In the palace of the demon wolves, the Annihilation Demonic Wolf Flegrea roared in anger, making all the subordinate gods bow their heads, fearing they might be the next to die in Flegrea's wrath.

After the furious roar, the anger within Flegrea didn't subside. His large wolf eyes turned to his subordinates, filled with cruelty and bloodlust.

Fortunately, he didn't act on his anger. Instead, his gaze fell on his most trusted subordinates, commanding,

"Amanises, Salinger, go tear those bloodsucking bats apart. I want Lilith to pay in blood."

"Yes, my Lord. Your will is my command."

Amanises immediately bowed, displaying submissiveness and loyalty.

As always.
