Though it felt like I’d been away since forever, I couldn’t shake away the sense of home that engulfed my body as I rode through the borders leading back to my kingdom.
It felt different though—the kingdom wasn’t exactly how I left it or pictured it to be. The streets were empty and screamed chaos, the displeasing smell of fear reeking the air.
It was heartbreaking at the very least, my heart aching with every new step I took further into my old home.
The air was filled with memories, every single one tugging at my heartstrings and reminding me of how quickly things could change.
How my life had changed.
My eyes fluttered and for a second was shut, memories of my family immediately enveloping me.
The lovely moments we once shared and how they were all suddenly ended all thanks to the massacre Jasper committed.
The fuzzy feeling that took over as I thought about my family suddenly vanished, immediately replaced my hate and anger.
