She was engaged to Prince Constantine? Well, that was inconvenient. Liam wanted to pursue Lady Felicia, but he wasn't so classless as to go after a woman who was already spoken for.
"Prince Constantine is very studious. He is somewhat pompous and arrogant, as expected of a Crown Prince. But he has a good heart and is fair minded once you get to know him." Liam described.
Dixie lifted her chin in acknowledgement. "Well, that's good to hear. Having a bad marriage partner can really set you back in life. I hope the prince and I can get along."
"I congratulate you in advance on becoming our future Empress, Lady Felicia." Liam said with sincerity. Even though he wanted her, he still wished her the best with her betrothed. Preparing to become an empress was no easy feat. But surely, this intelligent woman would be able to handle it.
"It is the highest honor for any noble lady. I am so lucky to have been chosen!" Dixie professed, smiling.
"When will the marriage take place?" Liam asked.
"I'm not sure, possibly in a year or so. No set date has been fixed." Dixie answered, sipping her tea. "I'm still a long ways off from becoming ready to sit on a throne. I have more studying and training to do before settling in as a wife and empress."
"Prince Constantine will be lucky to have her." Bonnie declared.
"Indeed he will. Lady Felicia is most charming and well spok----"
Liam's words broke off as Helena suddenly shot to her feet. She had tears in her eyes and was glaring at Dixie with hostility.
Liam's brows furrowed. "Lady Helena, is something wrong?"
"Not at all, Marquis Liam. I just remembered I was meant to meet my mother shorty after greeting you, so I can't stay. Please forgive my sudden departure."
Helena rushed away as soon as she was done speaking, giving nobody time to say anything. Once she far enough away, she burst into tears.
That bitch ruined everything!
