Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - Isekai? Without Dying?

Otaku.

Some unfortunate people live a stagnant life confined within their homes, with no desire to view the beautiful fields of grass, and suffer from loneliness. They cope with the fantasy behind the stories in manga and anime. Their only solace is found in the colorful characters and intricate plotlines that transport them to far-off worlds where they can forget about their troubles. While some may see them as isolated and withdrawn, otakus have a vibrant online community where they can connect with like-minded individuals who share their passion for Japanese pop culture. Despite their struggles with loneliness, otakus find comfort and joy in the imaginary realms created by their favorite manga and anime series.

However, while the majority of anime otaku are filthy, they are not all hikkikomori or NEETs. Some of them work 9 to 5, and some even live the life of a normie, with active social lives and solid relationships outside of their anime addiction. They may not fit the stereotype portrayed in mainstream media, but otakus come from all walks of life and backgrounds. Their love for anime and manga unites them, creating a sense of belonging and community that transcends societal labels. In the end, being an otaku is not about being defined by one's hobby but about finding a sense of comfort and happiness in a world that can be difficult to navigate.

Enzo Winfield was one of these special-grade otakus.

After all, you can't live such a luxurious lifestyle if you don't have the money to do so. In the past, he dreamed of becoming a manga artist, creating his own pieces of work for people to appreciate with the intention of influencing their lives for the better. However, he soon realized that making a living off of his passion for manga would be nearly impossible.

Right now, he works for a Japanese video game company settled in America as a 3D character model designer and even has a part-time job designing cute 2D characters used in games. In his spare time, he reads new published works sold at comic conventions and attempts to draw manga panels manually. He still dreams of one day becoming a successful manga artist.

However, right now, he's still trying to make ends meet.

"Damn it, Enzo! You never told me you have the complete set of JJBA: Part 5's volumes!" A boisterous voice echoed in Enzo's tiny apartment room. Not only was it too loud for Enzo's comfort, but the room was pretty small too, with all the trash like empty water bottles piled up on the floor and dirty dishes stacked on the counter.

This annoying friend of his being here just annoyed him the fuck up. He wished he could kick him out already. "Motherfuckeeeerr, can you shut up? I'm trying to focus here, bruh." The annoying friend just continued blabbering on, completely oblivious to his frustration.

"It's English translated too! In paperback at that! Man, I'm so envious! I've been trying to find those for months! Can I borrow them, dude?"

Enzo rolled his eyes. "Haven't we finished watching the anime already?"

"Aww, c'mon. You know it hits differently when you're reading manga."

In this statement, Enzo completely agreed. To the point that the intensity of agreement he felt made him nod his head unconsciously. After all, Enzo was a complete manga supremacist, believing that the manga always offered a more detailed and immersive experience than its anime counterpart. Plus, he loved being able to read at his own pace without worrying about filler episodes or pacing issues. Umu, in Enzo's eyes, manga was truly the superior form of storytelling.

"Guh, take the books, damn it; just don't accidentally spill water on them or something. Make sure to return them, a'ight?"

"Yeah!!! Thanks dude!"

That's why he stopped arguing, and Enzo focused on the computer screen. In front of him was a big-tiddied, short-haired goth girl wearing a black, oversized death metal band T-shirt. As the goth girl on the screen began to come to life, Enzo couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in his work, knowing that his passion for manga was being reflected in his creations.

This was the character Enzo was designing for an affiliated company that was famous for their porn games that were adapted after famous ero-mangas. He wanted to make sure every detail was perfect, down to the last pixel.

Enzo meticulously adjusted the shading on the character's curves, ensuring they were just right. He glanced at the clock and realized he had been working for hours without a break. With a sigh, he stretched his arms and cracked his knuckles, deciding to take a rest.

"Hey, bro, what would you like to eat for dinner—"

When he turned around, his friend wasn't in the room anymore. Enzo was a little surprised, since he hadn't even realized the guy had left the room. Enzo shrugged and decided to make himself a sandwich instead. As he prepared his meal, he couldn't help but wonder where his friend had gone off to in such a hurry. But ultimately, he didn't mind enjoying his dinner alone for once.

However, when he looked at the shelf where he stored his manga collection, there wasn't a single book on the shelf. All of his manga had disappeared.

Enzo: ∑(; °Д°) ?!?!

Enzo's heart sank as he realized that his friend must have taken his entire manga collection with him. He couldn't understand why his friend would do such a thing, especially without asking for permission. Enzo felt a mix of anger and sadness wash over him as he stared at the empty shelf. He knew he would have to confront his friend about the missing manga, but for now, he just wanted to enjoy his sandwich in peace and try to make sense of what had just happened.

"I should call him."

Wearing a pair of indoor flip-flops, Enzo walked out of his dirty room to contact his friend. But when he opened the door, it wasn't the neighboring buildings that stood before him. Rows of tall trees stood before him, shading the earth from the rays of the sun. Enzo's confusion deepened as he stepped outside, the familiar concrete jungle replaced by a serene forest. The sound of rustling leaves and chirping birds filled his ears, a stark contrast to the usual urban cacophony he was accustomed to.

"Where the fuck am I?"

As he looked around in disbelief, he realized he was no longer in his apartment building but in a completely different world altogether. The missing manga and his friend's betrayal were momentarily forgotten as he took in the beauty and tranquility of his surroundings.

"Ah."

He just got isekai'd.

"Wait, ISEKAIIIIII!?!?!"
