We went downstairs to The Mode Kitchen & Bar. There were three men in the back corner wearing black business suits waiting patiently for our arrival. I followed a few paces behind her, she wanted me there, but mainly for security so none of these men tried asking her back to their rooms.
She sauntered to a chair and made herself known with a bottle of the hotel's finest champagne.
"Offer still stands gentleman," Callista started, "Now I know the price is something you're not sold on. Look at it this way. You'll make it all back because of what you see outside these gorgeous walls. The ocean. Everyone who lives here wants a boat, yacht, or sea vessel. They can't help themselves."
"Even so, what profit do we gain by purchasing a lot at this ridiculous price?" one of the men asked.
She rolled her eyes in annoyance, "I never told you how much to sell them for once you purchase them darling. That's entirely up to you. Now the longer you wait the higher the price goes."
The three men looked at each other once more, "You're company is well known in the states but not globally. This would help push your world market to an entirely new level worldwide. You still think this price is fair?"
"700 million now," she seductively smiled. It was almost creepy, evil-like. I nearly choked. Did she just say that number? How rich were these people?
Their look turned from cockiness to concern within seconds. These dumb bastards have no idea what type of woman she is. Honestly neither do I, I'm only now finding out myself.
"Alright," the leader of the pack seemed to surrender waving both arms up in defense.
Callista pulled out a stack of papers the size of a novel and took them all out, "My originals will be signed. I'll send the copies by email at noon tomorrow."
Once they understood she was finished speaking they all took out their fancy pens and began signing the stack of papers. Despite negotiation, the signing alone could easily take an hour. She sat back and poured us both a glass of champagne in wait. I caught sight of the shimmering light gleaming from the thick gold chain around my wrist. It's luxury caught my attention. I have nice things. Nothing this nice. This costs more than my first car.
"You look nice" Callista observed, "It's amazing what money can do. You don't look like the young man I met. Not that you weren't attractive on your own. Just needed a little push in the proper direction."
Her arrogance is more than I thought. My eyes locked onto hers. I held her gaze for a while, letting her know what I wanted from her. When her demeanor changed I knew I had succeeded.
"I can do more for you than your husband I presume," I boldly stated while drinking from my glass.
Her eyes went to the glass she was gliding her fingertip along. The way she licked her lips implied my correctness. How bad could he be? He seemed like he knew what he was doing the other night. Ivy. That night was the best night of my life. You can't know this part though. This is just for me.
After forty-five minutes of paperwork signing, they dismissed themselves from the bar, tails tucked firmly between their legs. She was a big enough shark to scare powerful businessmen like them. Just how powerful was she?
"Let's sit here for a moment," she gently held my forearm, pulling me back down to the chair next to hers, "I am hungry and their menu is amazing."
The look and tone in her eyes wasn't one of command, more like kindness. How lonely could she be? She had everything you could ever want at her fingertips, but she looked so alone. I nodded and sat back down.
"Go ahead and order," I complied, "I eat almost anything."
She smiled, her grip lightly tightening on my arm in happiness. It was as if she turned into a giddy young woman. It was kind of cute.
"We'll take an order of your Sydney Rock Oysters, Blackmore Tartare and Truffle, Filetto Rossini, and your Strip Loin, please. The meat medium rare. A bottle of the best red wine you have."
"Quite a bit," I commented.
She fidgeted slightly with a smile, "I don't always have time to eat. When I can I love to indulge."
I smiled in reply, "So is the rest of this trip going to be things such as this?"
I could tell she didn't like the question from her change in expression, "That's for me to know, and you to find out."
