My eyes widened in shock. Well fuck. I'm not all that I thought I was. Why was I getting annoyed? This burning started in my chest. Wait, was I getting jealous? They continued to fuck like animals in the heat, but my eyes remained locked on them. Unable to look away. Did he expect to fuck me today after seeing this? I was going to open the door and make my way inside when a massive hand covered my mouth and wrapped it around me. I was pulled back quickly from the door. His tight grip and lifting me from the ground made it impossible to fight back.
Once we were back in the stairwell, I felt the hold on my release. I turned around angrily to see Zeus standing behind me. I shoved him back against the concrete cylinder behind him. The more I saw his look of victory, the angrier I became.
"What the fuck!" I gritted.
"You deserved to know," he placed his arms up in surrender.
I shook my head, pressing my tongue inside of my cheek. He purposefully gave me the wrong direction, knowing I'd be looking for Dimitri. Knowing what I'd see.
"Dick," I scoffed before running up the stairs.
I just wanted to get away from the entire situation. I don't know what I was feeling, but I didn't want to with it in front of someone I didn't know. I ran out to the next hall, which was merely identical to the previous one minus one door. I made my way in stride to the end of the hall to halt in my tracks. I felt a jerk on my elbow pulling me back.
"He brought you here for me because he knows I'll keep it quiet from Callista," Zeus stated.
"Why?" I shrugged, "What's the point?"
"Isn't it clear?" Zeus looked at me as if he were trying to delve into my soul, "He's in love with Eve."
"Who's Eve?" I shook my head.
"The blond Dimitri was just passionately fucking," Zeus taunted.
I chugged the last of my champagne. Why the fuck was I in the middle of all of this?
"Why is he married to Callista then?" I asked.
"He was in love with her around the time he fell in love with Callista. He chose Callista," he explained, "Clearly, he felt he chose wrong. Not one year later did he start fucking Eve again. When he told Callista nearly a decade later, she did everything she could—even offered to invite a different woman into their relationship. When that didn't work, she threatened to take everything. Now I feel she forces them to stay married to mess with the poor bloke's head."
That didn't sound right. From observing their behavior at home, they seemed happy both sexually and business-wise. Callista is asking me to keep an eye on Dimitri and has been talking about this. My eyes widened in conclusion. Wow. I was just a body, after all. Fuck them.
"So I was brought here for you then?" I exhaled my frustrations.
He could see my hesitance when he tried coming near me, "I won't hurt you. In fact, you might like what I do more than he does. I can almost guarantee it."
I scratched my scalp while fluffing my hair. He wasn't ugly, and I was annoyed with everything. The way he looked at me wasn't like a piece of meat to dominate. There was some sincerity there, too. I began tapping my heel into the black fur carpet beneath my feet. I don't know what I wanted. The sight of Dimitri fucking eve was burning into my head over and over again. The rain hitting the glass window at the end of the hall began echoing in the silence.
"Look I don't know you, and I don't just fuck anyone," I admitted.
He walked over to the left door and opened it for me, "Get to know me. Let's do it in here. There's fruit and a nice fire going, and my guests are more than entertained by themselves."
"How? There's no one up here," I pointed out the obvious.
"I have a staff quarters in the south wing. They live here full time and maintain my home full time. Everything is always ready in the case, and my guests or I need it."
I stiffened, unable to move my feet.
"If you come in here, you can still leave. Forcing women isn't my cup of tea."
With his words of ease, the tension in my body began to relax. He didn't seem like the type to hurt me. I looked at my face again; more kindness and sincerity were looking back at me. I anxiously stood there as he went into the room. While looking up and down the deserted quiet hall, I caught sight of his wrist emerging from the room, presenting a sealed bottle of wine.
"You can hit me with this if it makes you feel safer," he smiled.
I looked down the hall to the stairwell, "What about Dimitri?"
"He's planning on being here for the night," Zeus stated.
I folded my arms, "How would you know that?"
"Because once he goes inside that room with Eve, he doesn't come out," he smugly answered. They remain glued to one another the entire time they're together."
I felt like puking. With a final nod, I took Zeus's offering and walked inside the room with him. Here I am again, venturing out into the unknown. Just because.
