Rain and the others couldn't believe their ears. For a moment, Rain thought he was seeing things as his eyes took in the sight of the gates slowly creaking open.
"It's . . . opening," he muttered in disbelief, his voice barely above a whisper. But then, the realization hit him like a wave, and a spark of hope ignited in his chest. His expression shifted from shock to exhilaration, his face lighting up with hope. "General Varlox and the others — they've done it!"
A wave of renewed hope washed over the battlefield as the massive gates continued to open, revealing the fortified interior of Clockwork City. The enemy forces, taken by surprise, hesitated for a moment, their momentum faltering as they realized that they had failed their mission to defend the city.
