After getting the lizard's body off the branch that killed it, its blood started staining the ground below it, but Zion wasn't bothered by that.
He moved himself towards the wound and studied the damage the branch caused. It was a clean wound that went straight through its body. Due to this, the tough scales were broken and damaged around the wound, which showed the pink meat on the inside.
Zion hesitated momentarily, then shook his head, 'Gotta do it...' He leaned down, sticking his muzzle into the wound of the lizard, which was almost big enough to fit his head in, before opening his mouth and biting onto some of its flesh, then tearing said flesh away and swallowing it down.
Once again, he felt the delight of the meat and began to happily eat some to fill his stomach before he stopped and moved away, his fur all up his muzzle and just below his eyes now covered in blood.
He backed off and frowned at the lizard's body, 'Damn it... this thing is too big to carry myself. If I could, I would take it back to my burrow, which would keep me fed for ages. Oh well. I'll eat what I can and then leave before others come due to the smell of the blood.' He again started munching away on the lizard meat, speaking to the system as he ate, 'How do I learn more skills?'
[[Skills can be self taught or learned by being taught by others.]]
'That makes sense.' He nodded internally as he thought, 'Then... how about spells?'
[[Spells are the same. They can be created yourself or taught from spell books. However, to use a spell, you must have an affinity of that element.]]
'My status says I have no affinity... how do I get one?' He finally finished eating his fill, making his belly bulge a little from eating so much as he finally walked away from the lizard.
[[Affinities can be gained by birth, evolution, or finding a plant or beast with high affinity towards one of the elements and eating them.]]
'Oh? If I get a magical affinity, will it affect my evolution choices?' He was very curious about that since it sounded like his choices did matter.
[[Yes. If you have a fire affinity, you will be able to evolve into fire-based fox evolutions.]]
'That is pretty cool. Although... what if I get multiple affinities but have already evolved?' He finally reached the stream and, like before, sat in it to wash his fur off.
[[In the case of obtaining affinities even after elemental based evolution, you will get the choice of an evolution that will take in all affinities you have obtained.]]
'So I won't have to worry about gaining more. Although... I shouldn't evolve into any fox species that focuses on one element. Whatever. I need an element first before worrying about that.' He walked out of the stream and shook what water he could off his body.
Due to it now starting to get dark, he couldn't sunbathe like earlier, so he instead decided to head back to his burrow before it got too dark and he was attacked by something much bigger and stronger than him.
He climbed through his burrow before reaching the spot he created for sleeping and yawned, curling up as he used his tail as a pillow.
'I'm looking forward to my first evolution... but I also hope to find a beast with an affinity first. Ahh... being weak sucks.' This was his last thought before he soundly fell asleep.
------------
The following week consisted of Zion hunting when he could. He would hunt a few small things, mice, a couple of rat-like creatures. He even managed to snag a chicken-like beast with horns caught in a hunter's trap but wasn't dead.
Doing so, he slowly built up his EXP. It's nothing substantial, but enough to push him to level 3 at least. He also did some experiments and eventually created some extra skills.

The two new ones were self-explanatory, and their information pretty much said what he expected.
[[Pounce: Leap onto your target from above, an attack after a successful pounce will have 150% more damage.]]
[[Kick: Kick out with your strong back legs towards your target. If successfully hit, the target will be staggered for 2 seconds.]]
They were pretty helpful, though, especially since he did tend to pounce on creatures to catch them by surprise and as with the mud lizard, kicking had become helpful for bigger things.
The only other things that changed were now, with a couple of extra levels, the information and a few effects of the different skills changed, too.
Bite now had a slight chance of causing a bleed when he bites down.
Slash now actually caused 150% more damage, which means with his current 7 STR, he can cause around 17 damage.
Analysis just stated that with higher levels, the higher ranked creatures he could get information on. Which he already figured out... I mean, how much of a cheat would it be if he used Analyse and he could even tell a high-ranking beast's weakness? He already has a system and a new life... he isn't expecting another large cheat. He's content with the ones he currently has.
