Eugenio Himmel's house
The hours passed quickly as I read and it's already lunch time. I rushed to the kitchen to prepare lunch. I made some spaghetti bolognese. When I finished serving, I went to find my grandfather so we could sit down together to eat. I went downstairs with him and helped him sit down.
-Oh yummy pasta. Thank you very much for the nice lunch," Grandpa says while smiling.
-Grandpa, while I was organizing the boxes, I found some books full of very entertaining pictures called comics.
-Comics?" Grandpa asks as he drops his fork on his plate.
-Yes, it was a lot of fun. I learned a lot and above all, it was nice to see stories where the weak are protected. No doubt the heroes are the m... GRANDPA, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!
Suddenly my grandfather threw himself to the ground while screaming. He seemed to be in a lot of pain. It was the first time I saw him in that state so I was alarmed. I tried to go for his medicine, but my grandfather held my hand and stopped me.
-Don't worry my grandson, I'm fine," said grandfather while holding his head with his right hand.
-Grandfather, you recognized me!
For the first time in a long time, my grandfather had recognized me. He was very happy, so much so that he had forgotten the recent situation.
-Of course. Thank you so much for always taking care of me," Grandpa says as he smiles.
-You are my only family. Of course I have to take care of you.
We talked a lot about life. He told me many stories about him and about my mother. I was so happy that my grandfather was getting better.
Time passed quickly and it was already 5 PM so I thought about taking my grandfather to rest but he refused.
-I have to show you something. Let's go to the basement," Grandpa says while putting on a serious face.
-It's ok. Let me help you up.
-Don't worry. Pass that pencil next to you and then give me your hand to show you something," says Grandpa while pointing.
I pass him the pencil and take his hand just as he told me.
[teleportation].
Almost instantly the atmosphere changed and we were already in the basement.
-This is my unique ability. I can teleport myself and anything I touch as long as I have an object to break," Grandpa says while showing me the already broken pencil.
-Wao you are a talent user. That's amazing grandpa.
-Yes. I used to be a hero named Jejavy. I used this suit to save people and fight evil. Together with my friends, we protected weak people. It was an amazing era," says my grandfather as he pulls out the suit he had seen before.
-That explains the suit and the gadgets.
My grandfather showed me a bunch of pictures with his hero friends. It's strange, as I remember I had previously seen those empty pictures and now there were people in them. But I didn't pay much attention to that detail.
-There is something that is not clear to me. Why had I never heard this story before? Worse, why had I never heard about the heroes or the comics?
My grandfather tried to answer me, but he didn't seem to remember what happened either. It's strange that something as popular a concept as my grandfather said it was, would pass into oblivion and no one seemed to remember it.
-To tell you the truth, one day like any other, I simply forgot all about heroism and my friends. I can't remember exactly what happened, but it's as if a higher force had censored the word hero and everything related to it," Grandpa says while holding his head.
The more I knew, the more questions formed in my head, but I decided not to ask more, as my grandfather had just recovered and I didn't want his mental health to get worse.
-I'm going to get dinner ready.
-That's all right. I'll stay down here for a while, remembering the past," Grandpa says with a sad tone.
I left him sitting on the floor while I went upstairs. In the distance I could see him sighing with nostalgia and sadness while he had his hero suit in his hand.
