Chapter 1 - Snowfall

Get ready! Here it comes again!" A Warrior called as he drew his sword in the direction of a massive silver blue Frost Wolf Spider as it hadn't attacked and only cocooned his comrades as it dodged expertly like it knows how Warriors fight, "It might be a Named Monster!"

A Mage who was charging up a fire spell had been observing its movements.

The Spider only knocked out Adventurers and stabbed the other creatures that had swarmed them in the dungeon. It cocooned those with even the smallest wound with ease and precision, yet no matter if its back was turned, it would lead other creatures into the line of fire and dodge as if it was a vanguard veteran pulling agroo.

"What if? What if this is the 'Legendary Healing Frostbite Spider' the Guild told us about?" An Elven Ranger asked as they had already stopped aiming at the Spider as they didn't feel any malice from it as it expertly maneuvered without killing them into this small space.

The spell was ready as the Mage pondered that 'What If' as they remembered when they first came to this backwater town as a female Gold Rank Cleric with long silver hair and her party of Silver Rank had warned them not to harm the Silver Spider for it was the town's savior and was friendly. Plus it had come from behind them… the way to the surface… there's no way it would've fit through the entrance! … Unless it was a Shifter!

Aiming at the last moment the Mage nailed some A Rank monsters as the Spider was doing a turn about on the ceiling. Having its prey killed, its eight hazel eyes turned in their direction like a veteran scolding newbees before dipping its head like a nod and returned to dealing with the Monster Wave that was just starting to get into full swing.

A pile of loot started to form as it kicked the loot from its kills into a large pile before pausing to cocoon those as well before kicking it up to the many others on ceiling, out of the way for the Adventurers, as sounds of many heavy footsteps echoed from behind as reinforcements arrived led by the Silver Rank.

The Silver rank got in front of them and put up a barrier, as they took a breather to replenish their energy, the Adventurer Mages from the town started to use their One Tier magic, Warmth within the barrier.

The Warrior became mad at them as if they were doing something stupid, "You Need To Attack Them! Not Warm Us Up!"

Many 'Pffts' echoed as then veterans shook their heads and mumbled with a smirk 'Newbees!'

The Warriors face turned red, he was an A Rank with two years under his belt as many of those who came seemed to be Copper Rank or less at least!

The Silver Lead took in a breath that seemed to take away even the sound of fighting. It might be a charged attack as the air he took in was not simple, bracing himself as he leaned back as the air vacuum stopped.

Shockwaves emitted from the Silver Leader as he hollard, "READY! SET! NOW!"

The village mages ran into positions along the circle of cocoons and survivors as they all made a Fire Shield as other parties began to bring and feed them Mama Potions.

The Spider, unfazed by the shockwave, began to shake its fur as blue snow began to appear and the winds howled as the cave and tunnels turned into a massive blizzard. With the strength of an SS Class Beast the blizzard turned the entrance of the dungeon into icicles and down the tunnels monsters and biomes turned into frozen statues and snow fields as what caused the Monster Wave also got frozen as a cloaked entity ran away through Void Walk.

He got frostbite on his hide as he tumbled into a hideout as it closed. There were ice hands reaching out from the closed  portal spot that had a grip on his leg.

Other cloaked figures began to frantically free their comrade and warm him up to no avail. A different colored cloaked figure moved the others aside as a FireBlade emanated from his hand as he struck down ahead of the creeping ice decapitating and cartalizing the leg at the knee.

Looking at the intricate many hands that seemed to disappear into the walls, as it had lost its prey, yet frozen handprints dotted the wall and gave off a chill that never dissipated.

The blizzard stopped and the Spider's attention was in a direction with no entrance as if it had located something.

Stomping on the ground twice dispelled the snow and ice behind it as new Adventurers got a glimpse of its power and why the Mages focused on Fire instead of attacking.

The Adventurers donned on specialized gloves and handled the cocooned people as the Spider gently brought down the cocooned loot sacs and placed them on wagons that were brought as they nodded towards the Spider before hauling it out.

WIth no one in the cave the massive Spider shrunk down and dawned Cleric Robes and whistled as the Silver Ranks came back in with smiles and one with a grouchy face as he whacked the back of her head,

"How many times have we said Not To! Go! Off! On! Your! Own! Like! That!"

Rubbing her head at the nonexistent pain and said softly, "But the Wave occurred!"

"I! Don't! Care!"

"What he means is the world can burn as long as we're together and safe, Saintess!"

She sighed, "Told you to not call me that!" Pouting a bit, "Let's go get them out of there and grab out prizes!"

The angry one subsided his anger, "It was quite the haul… Good job!"

Back in the Adventure Guild a line of cocoons awaited them and a large medical team was ready to receive the injured but no one moved as the Gold Rank Cleric made her way to the front of the line and easily opened them, folded the string like a blanket and placed them on a table as she directed the Medical Team on what the conditions of them were one by one as the new group just watched in confusion at the smooth process.

"Are you sure 'That' is our target?" The Elven Ranger whispered as the line of cocoons soon ended and the Receptionist brought over a lot of large platinum coins to the Cleric.

"Good work as always! We'll put them to good use!"

The Warrior got up and said acusingly, "She Didn't Do Anything! Why Does She Get Platinum Coins While The Rest Of Us Barely Get Gold!"

The Guild turned silent as it slowly became chilly, the Orc of a Guild Master rushed down and instead of reprimanding the Receptionist, he knelt in front of the Cleric!

"Don't mind them! We are grateful for the help of your Goddess! Our God wishes for us to pay tribute for the work your Goddess assisted with! Please accept!"

The chill disapated as she said in a soft but demeaning tone that made everyone flinch, "The one who cause the Wave has escaped! We will depart to chase! You should be safe for the time being! The first eight floors are Frozen Lands now and should be safe to travel in small increments if you wish to break the Frozen Wave monsters!"

Waving a hand over the money that disapeared in blink of an eye the Cleric and Silver Ranks headed out as all but the new group bowed their respect. The Silver Ranks glared down at them with bloodlust that made the Warrior sit back down in fear.

As they passed through the town up into the mountains into a hidden spacious cave that housed a house with a large pile of hay in the shape of a nest nest to it and a broken statue behind the house.

"Home sweet home!" The Cleric said out loud as the others nodded their heads.

"Do you miss being normal?" One of the teammates asked as they settled in the house making food and taking off their armors.

Silence ensured as the memories of what happened that day still haunts everyone of them. As echoes of screams and battles never known still fresh in their heads as they all just went to their beds to sleep in comfort.
