Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 The Meeting

In a penthouse atop a corporate housing building, the ambient hum of a male news reporter's voice filled the room as daylight slowly illuminated the interior.

Basil, holding a freshly brewed cup of coffee, made his way to the leather couch from his kitchen, taking a small sip as he tuned into the news."

" Thank you for your wonderful coverage of the weather Samantha, in other news, a head was found in front of CA buildings early this morning." said the reporter in a nonchalant voice.

The victim was discovered to be Deamon Cuffer, an employee of Megacorp, The police have so far found no one in connection with the murder. A spokesman from Megacorp stated that they are deeply sorry for the loss of such a valuable employee to the corporate machines and will be cooperating with the police. Next up in our morning news is sports after the break, " said the reporter before the commercial break began.

Wrapping up what little coffee was in his mug, Basil got up from his couch and, with a small stretch, headed to his bathroom. Once he was finished with his shower, he wore his signature black dress suit with his black trench coat. On his middle fingers was a black ring with a skull head at the center. His shoes were black and made of real leather from the home system of Sol, and all his clothes were shipped from Earth and were hand-tailored for an exuberant amount of Federation credit.

With a stride packed with confidence, Basil walked out into the corridor outside of his penthouse. The first scenery Basil was met with was of four massive mountains of muscle encased in a full body of standard black and gold military armor, each with a darkened face shield hiding their faces. They had a massive assault gun with rail modifications that allowed them to shoot slugs with tremendous force and speed.

They were stationed at his doorway as bodyguards. Standing at attention at the sight of Basil, each towering more than 7 feet tall.

One of the giants stood before. " What are our orders, sir?" said the giant with a deep voice that can cause anyone to feel their chest vibrating. "Sgt William

"Get your men ready. We'll head to headquarters." Saluting at Basil, William turns to the men under his command. Touching the side of his helmet, Willams ordered his men to form up and surround Basil. Making their way to exit the building

The sight of four sleek black hover could be seen waiting outside.

In the convoy, Basil approached his car and was greeted by a stunning woman in a black and gold military uniform with the rank of lieutenant. "Good Morning Sir," she said, looking up from her tablet. "Morning, Lieutenant," Basil acknowledged as he settled into the car. The sleek black hovers moved smoothly through the city, their darkened windows reflecting the corporate landscape. Inside the car, the Lieutenant briefed Basil on the latest developments.

Upon reaching the headquarters of Imperial Corp, he was greeted by the imposing structure of the headquarters building, its reflective surface gleaming under the morning sun. Stepping out of the hover, Basil immediately surrounded his bodyguards and was escorted inside.

As Basil entered the building, he was met with the familiar sight of polished marble floors and towering glass walls. The air hummed with the sound of productivity, a symphony of ambition and power.

Heading towards the executive elevator, Basil was joined by the Lieutenant, who continued to update him on the latest developments within the corporation. They discussed the recent incident involving Deamon Cuffer and the potential implications it could have on Imperial Corp's operations.

Stepping out of the elevator onto the executive floor, Basil was greeted by sight of more than 30 individuals seated, each a part of what runs Imperial Corporation, his inner circle of advisors and executives, each wearing military uniforms. Among them, the ranks varied from major to colonel to even three-star generals. They gathered around him, eager to discuss strategy and next steps in light of the recent.

As Basil took his seat, one of the three-star generals stood up. "Good morning. For those who may not be familiar with me, I am General Alexander Stone, currently serving as the Chief of Staff for Ground Forces in Imperial Corp."

"I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone for our quarterly meeting," he continued. "First on our agenda is a briefing report from our head of Imperial Intelligence, Colonel James Forster."

"Thank you, General Stone," Colonel Forster began as he stepped forward, his presence commanding attention. "Good morning, everyone. I'll jump right into our briefing."

" To begin the shipment of weapons that was stolen was track to an abandoned Warhouse in the Industrial District where New Elis SF are surrounding the building as we currently speak."

Colonel Forster's words hung in the air, drawing a collective intake of breath from those assembled. The revelation of the stolen weapons and their location sparked a sense of urgency among the senior leadership of Imperial Corp.

"Are there any indications of the insurgents' identity or motives behind the theft?" General Stone inquired, his tone measured yet focused.

Colonel Forster nodded, his expression grave. "Preliminary intelligence suggests the involvement of a faction known as the Phoenix insurgents. Their motives remain unclear, but their history of anti-government activities and radical ideology cannot be ignored."

Basil Aurum, listening intently, interjected with a statement. "I encountered their leader yesterday. He proved uncooperative, so I dealt with him accordingly."

"What is the status of our response team? Are they prepared to neutralize the threat and recover the stolen weapons?" General Stone inquired, maintaining the focus on the immediate task at hand.

Colonel Forster nodded. "Our response team is on standby and ready to deploy at a moment's notice. They are equipped with the latest technology and weaponry, and we have coordinated with local law enforcement to ensure a swift and decisive operation."

General Stone glanced around the room, his gaze meeting the eyes of each attendee. "We can not afford to underestimate the threat posed by the Phoenix insurgents. Our priority is the safety and security of New Elis and its citizens. We will take whatever measures necessary to neutralize this threat and protect our interests."

As the meeting progressed, plans were formulated, strategies discussed, and orders issued. Each member of the senior leadership team understood the gravity of the situation and the importance of their role in ensuring the success of Imperial Corp's mission.

With the meeting adjourned, Basil Aurum and his colleagues dispersed, their minds focused on the task ahead. The shadow of uncertainty loomed over New Elis, but with unity, determination, and unwavering resolve, they stood ready to confront whatever challenges lay in their path.
