Chapter 9 - Great rapture

Victor was eating in his room while contemplating. There were six months left until the shrine was opened.

Before retreating, he faced one of the constellation shrine, which in turn gave him the methods of making ancient runes, which would in turn help him with his plan. Leech had given him a lot of resources that would help him make one of the ancient runes.

He sent Leech to fetch the resources and told him to focus on mana stones because he would need them to make one of the ancient runes inside the shrine.

Victor went to the alchemy room and carried a huge pot and placed it in the center of the room, the back of his mouth in his hand. He took out many resources mixed between herbs and minerals and put them all inside the pot as he began to pour mana stones into it.

As soon as he put ten thousand low-level mana stones, a small explosion occurred inside the pot which did not negatively affect the pot or the operation.

The black liquid began to turn and gather in the form of a black metallic rock. As soon as the operation was finished, Victor took the stone and went and sat at a desk inside the alchemy room. Victor pumped mana into his finger and began to engrave on the stone, becoming more affected than when he made the stone. While he was engraving a mark, he was drinking a blue potion to restore mana after marking many marks, he let out a sigh of relief.

If I had failed, there would not have been a second try. It's good that I succeeded. I think the citizens of the City of Disasters should be happy.

After looking at the stone, he pumped mana into it, and the shape of the stone began to change. It turned into an open black hand. After he finished, he started making another stone, but apparently it finished much faster than the stone before it. The stone was a lapis lazuli blue. Victor was not affected while he was engraving multiple marks quickly on the stone. The stone soon finished after he pumped mana into it, turning into a lapis lazuli blue bead.

Victor said, "Good."

And now the first part of my goal is complete.

While Victor was thinking about his next plan in a forest near the City of Disasters, Leech was flying around exploring the resources and mana fluctuations in the air, thinking:What does that thug want with mana stones and resources? I thought he would ask me to accompany him out of the City of Disasters.

Tsk tsk, I can't come up with a plan to kill him indirectly. Damn it, if that damn curse hadn't branded me with a high-level slavery brand and tied me to his son, I would have killed him long ago. I escaped from Victor using the excuse of prison while disguised as Victor and killed the son of a noble, which made the noble angry and sent an assassination request to the Desert Skull Gang. I would have gotten my freedom if that piece of trash hadn't failed to kill him. Tsk.

Since I can't kill him and I can't cause him to be killed directly, and I also have to protect him with all my might, otherwise I will die too. However, I can cause his death indirectly. I'm sure he'll leave the City of Disasters one day, and I just have to be patient.

I don't know what he needs mana stones for to send me to get them. What is he planning? I have to find out.

After a few days, news spread of the disappearance of some people, who in turn returned as if nothing had happened. This continued with all the citizens of the city, which caused a stir.

On a dark night, inside a jewelry store,There was a dark-skinned man with a thick mustache talking to the store owner.

The dark-skinned man said, "Really don't you even remember disappearing?"

Yes, sir, I was in the store calculating the month's income, then I woke up at my desk. I didn't believe anyone when they told me I had been gone for days.

The dark-skinned man left the store and walked down a crowded street. The dark-skinned man put his hand on his chin and thought, "It's been a month since the kidnappings, and there have been nineteen waves. In each wave, one hundred thousand citizens are kidnapped. The city has a population of two million, so almost all the citizens have already been kidnapped.

The strange thing is why all the citizens return safely after the kidnapping.

Tsk, this is something related to the Transcendents. I really don't want to be involved in it. Let me...

Why do I feel dizzy?

The man fell to the ground.

Damn it, damn it, how did I forget that I am a citizen too?

The man tried to maintain his last consciousness, and the last thing he saw was a lapis lazuli blue bead. The man lost consciousness.

The man woke up early in the morning and there was no one in the hallway.

Was I kidnapped too?

Why do I feel a strange feeling...

In a huge palace, inside a large room above a huge bed, Victor was sitting cross-legged, absorbing mana.

Ah, the absorption technique of the Overwhelming Growth skill absorbs a huge amount of pure mana.

Alright.

Victor stood up and stretched strangely.

The first plan was finished in another month. Now there are only five months left until the inheritance appears. Now I need mana stones and some resources to break through to the second heaven and make the second ancient rune...

After Leech returned to the palace, he gave Victor all the mana stones he had collected.

Victor was surprised by their number. I think there are about twenty million. It seems that the City of Disasters is richer than it looks.

Victor said to Leech with a strange expression, "You didn't steal them, did you?"

Leech's expression changed in a split second, but he quickly returned to a friendly expression and said, "Impossible, young master. I found all this in the eastern forest near the city. I am also surprised by this wealth."

Leech's sullen face did not escape Victor's eyes, but he ignored it and said, "You have been lucky these days, haven't you, Mr. Leech? You not only got out of jail, but you also found a fortune, even for someone at your level."

Leech smiled and said, "You seem to be joking with me. If I were lucky, you wouldn't have come close to death, young master."

Although Victor's expression did not change, he thought to himself, "Ah, how much I hate hypocrites."

Mr. Leech, I have something to tell you.

Leech was surprised and said, "Say whatever you want, young master."

Ah, well, the truth is that there is a shrine that will appear near the city in about five months.

A look of surprise appeared on Leech's face. "You mean the inheritance, don't you? But how did you know?"

Victor said to him, "The important thing is not how I knew, but how I will benefit from it."

Leech said, "Sir, the inheritance is dangerous. It would be better if I came with you to protect you."

Victor said, " Do you know what transcendent that inheritance is?

Leech said with surprise and fear, "Is it a high-level Transcendent?"

Victor said, "No, of course not."

Leech relaxed, let out a sigh, and said, "You don't have to scare me like that."

Victor laughed and said, "Yes, yes, yes. I'm not trying to scare you. All I'm saying is that the inheritance is not for a high-level Transcendent, but for a Supreme King."

Leech said, "Ah, really. Anyway, I know what you mean... What did you sayyyyyyyyyyyy? A Supreme Kingggggggggg?"

Yes, it's a Supreme King, but don't worry, the owner of the shrine seems to want to take a weak heir, apparently, so only low-level Transcendents can enter.

Leech thought, "That's why he said shrine. Can't I cause his death inside the shrine? That would be easy. The three supreme families have masters at the level of low-level Transcendents with three heavens who can easily kill him. Also, the masters of the younger generations of the families are higher than him by one heaven, so killing him there would be easy. I just need a way to communicate with the families indirectly to kill him."

Leech felt overwhelmed with joy at this discovery.

To be continued...
