Chapter 55 - Season 1 Chapter 29: "Unified Merit Commission and the Nobles Gathering"

(Note: In the previous chapter, I mentioned the Drakenshire Alliance, but that will be in the next chapter, sorry!)

[December 1st Week — Unified Merit Commission — Early Afternoon]

The Unified Merit Commission is an independent commission that upholds the authority and manages the promotion process for members of all factions. The commission is renowned for its impartiality and dedication to meritocracy, ensuring that promotions are based on accomplishments and service.

The National Association's purpose is to serve as a central body for organizing and managing various types of quests, missions, and commissions across different regions of the empires/nations. It functions primarily as a hub for adventurers, mercenaries, and other skilled individuals who seek to undertake tasks that range from combat missions to exploration, resource gathering, and more. It's like free for all players/adventurers/awakeners/mercenaries/skilled individuals.

The Unified Merit Commission's purpose is to formalize and structure an organization that focuses on the accumulation and recognition of merit within both military and nobility. It is heavily tied to the ranking and promotion system of the empire, particularly for those in service to the state, such as military personnel, knights, and nobles. It's only exclusive to people/players who have military status or nobility status.

In summary, while the National Association caters to adventurers and freelancers seeking a variety of missions, the Unified Merit Commission is more aligned with formal military and noble advancement, emphasizing merit and strategic contributions to their empires/nations.

(Note: UMC stands for Unified Merit Commission)

[Unified Merit Commission — Reception Hall]

Accel walked toward the UMC building, his Composite Iron-Leather Armor making quiet noises with each step. The armor was a mix of iron and leather, built for both protection and flexibility. His helmet covered his face completely, hiding his identity from anyone who might recognize him. He preferred to keep who he was a secret until he was older.

As he entered the building, he noticed people inside talking and checking mission boards. The place smelled of old paper, ink, and the warmth of a nearby fireplace.

Accel approached the reception desk, where a young woman in the UMC uniform was sorting through some papers. She looked up as he came closer.

UMC Receptionist A: "Welcome to the Unified Merit Commission. How can I help you today?" [Asked with a friendly but professional tone.]

Accel: "I'd like to register as a new member." [Hesitated] "The name is Winchester."

The UMC Receptionist checks her computer if the Winchester name appeared based on the Noble Society's Record List. After scanning for a few minutes, the Winchester name did appear on the Record List and the UMC Receptionist accepted Accel's registration and his membership in the Unified Merit Commission.

The UMC Receptionist started filling out the necessary registration and membership for Accel and handed over a Bronze Badge III as it represents the UMC Branch of Northern Mindala Fortress. The Bronze Badge III is the lowest rank and merit points the person has. The UMC Receptionist explains to Accel about the ranking system and the merit points used, because the UMC only accepts and receives Merit Points, which other currencies don't allow, and it's non-tradable and non-transferable to any person.

The UMC Merit Points Ranking System:

1. Bronze Badge:

Bronze Badge III = 0 to 10 Points

Bronze Badge II = 25 to 50 Points

Bronze Badge I = 75 to 100 Points

2. Silver Badge:

Silver Badge III = 125 to 150 Points

Silver Badge II = 200 to 250 Points

Silver Badge I = 300 to 350 Points

3. Gold Badge:

Gold Badge IV = 400 to 450 Points

Gold Badge III = 500 to 600 Points

Gold Badge II = 700 to 800 Points

Gold Badge I = 900 to 1000 Points

4. Platinum Badge:

Platinum Badge IV = 1250 to 1500 Points

Platinum Badge III = 1750 to 2000 Points

Platinum Badge II = 2250 to 2500 Points

Platinum Badge I = 2750 to 3000 Points

5. Diamond Badge:

Diamond Badge V = 3250 to 3500 Points

Diamond Badge IV = 4000 to 4500 Points

Diamond Badge III = 5000 to 5500 Points

Diamond Badge II = 6000 to 6500 Points

Diamond Badge I = 7000 to 7500 Points

6. Ruby Badge:

Ruby Badge V = 8000 to 8500 Points

Ruby Badge IV = 9000 to 10000 Points

Ruby Badge III = 11000 to 12000 Points

Ruby Badge II = 13000 to 14000 Points

Ruby Badge I = 15000 to 17500 Points

And so on, if Accel based it on the National Association the Ranking of the Merit Points, they are:

1. Bronze Badge = Rank (G) to Rank (E) Quests

2. Silver Badge = Rank (D) to Rank (C) Quests

3. Gold Badge = Rank (C+) to Rank (B+) Quests

4. Platinum Badge = Rank (A-) to Rank (A+) Quests

5. Diamond Badge = Rank (S-) to Rank (S+) Quests

6. Ruby Badge = Rank (SS-) to Rank (SS+) Quests

And so on, after the introduction. Accel handed over the commission that he took... (Refer to Chapter 28 Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3). After all of this, Accel handed over the commission he accepted from the National Association to guard and protect the military stationary camp together with Knight Amelia and Grand Knight Charlotte, the Receptionist congratulated Accel for his badge promotion.

Supposedly, Accel's badge promotion will increase from Bronze Badge III to Bronze Badge I, but when the commission was updated to a Platinum Rank Commission by the Supreme Authority Council. Accel's badge promotion jumped from Bronze Badge III to Gold Badge III making him one of the fastest members to be promoted, as few people who were at the UMC saw this, they clapped him on his promotion.

After that, the UMC Receptionist handed Accel the Gold Badge III. Accel received the badge, left the Unified Merit Commission branch, and entered the magical carriage heading towards Rivershire Town where the Ishikawa Family will hold the Nobles Gathering that comes from the Freedom Fractions, according to the letter that Accel received their rank from Servants who served different noble household to Barons like the Head of the Ishikawa Family.

Accel also reads more about the letter received and according to it the Nobles Gathering is more like a casual meeting, like going to meet friends but wears a formal dress code, not really a casual and usual type.

After a few hours of passing multiple military checkpoints and villages (both known and not known), he arrived at Rivershire Town where the Head of the Baron, Ishikawa Haruto Kazuyoshi, and his family live and govern...
