Chapter 19 - The Complete Truth (1)

Aurelium had been born as a four-winged Seraphim, His father the Sun God manifested His reality into the world. The Sun God created his Soul and imbued it with His power. Amongst many other Seraphims, Aurelium was the only one born with wings. Other creations of His father did not contain the same rank of Soul as Him.

Seraphims are a race of mythic, they know not of human emotions and are completely logical individuals. Such is the image that the Sun God had developed for them. They served as weapons to be wielded at any time.

As for Aurelium, he served as the sword of the Sun God. His golden aura showed its radiance throughout the world. He was the light of the Sun, and everything of brilliance was His.

He served as a weapon throughout His life, slaying those that opposed the Sun. With light came, redemption, and His foolish concept of redemption was much different from human thought.

After centuries upon centuries of slaughter, thinking of it as salvation, Aurelium managed to reach the final step in advancing His Soul.

Aurelium gazed upon His radiant Soul and summoned the runes in front of Him.

[Aurelium]

[Path: Brilliance of the Sun]

[Path Rank: Seraph]

[Soul Rank: Hallowed]

[Attunement: Angel of Gold]

After gazing upon His avatar, he looked at the newly found text at the bottom.

[Thine Soul is brimming with radiance!]

This had meant that his Soul was ready to ascend, thus he gazed further at the text and assessed his ascension ritual.

[As one bearing the Brilliance of the Sun. For thou to ascend, thou must show thy brilliance to the world. Be a distinguished figure amongst people and show thy brilliance upon them.]

The text seemed to show a simple ritual, but the runes always showed a deeper meaning. As a Seraphim, weapon of a god, Aurelium did not know of the meaning of humanity. To become a distinguished figure among them would prove to be quite a hurdle.

Moreover, showing brilliance towards them was not as easy as it sounded. He had to think of a way to accomplish this. So, he consulted His creator.

Aurelium ascended back into heaven and met with the Sun God.

What Veritas saw was a scene of beauty, he saw a palace of pristine white marble, its purity had been extravagant and the area seemed ethereal.

He saw a four-winged individual with bright golden hair, wearing pure white robes, bowing down to an unknown figure. The figure seemed to be sitting gracefully at a beautiful throne. Veritas could not determine who or what the figure was, and he did not dare to even take a glimpse of its true identity.

The golden-haired Seraphim was.. receiving a golden blade, it was being bestowed to Him. Was He getting promoted in Seraphim culture? Veritas could not comprehend it.

In reality, Aurelium was being granted freedom to accomplish the ritual on His own. Although he could ask His Father for assistance, Aurelium thought that it'd be a good chance for him to understand humanity.

Prior to what Veritas saw, Aurelium consulted His Father about the circumstance.

"O! Great Sun God.. I bow to thee and bear of the greatest news."

"You may continue.."

"I! Aurelium, Seraphim of Gold.. Hast finally reached the last step of ascending. I pray for thine guidance O, Great Sun God."

"Very well, you may tell me of the details of thine road to ascension."

Hearing the ethereal voice of the Sun God, Aurelium told of the details to His Father. The Sun God listened attentively to the words of His Son. After understanding the situation, the Sun God rose from his seat and conjured a golden sword in His hand.

"For thine to ask of solitude in accomplishing thine ritual is acceptable.. I shall give a mission to thee."

"..."

"Spread the word of mine gospel, spread the word of mine benevolence, spread the word mine greatness. Only then will a path of brilliance show upon thee."

The Sun God then offered the golden blade to Aurelium's hands.

"I understand of thine words."

Aurelium received the golden blade with grace and gratitude.

"Now.. my golden son. Descend amongst the humans and show them thy brilliance."

With those words, golden light began to show within Aurelium's body. It seemed that His physical body began to turn illusory and golden light replaced it.

After a few moments, Aurelium's body vanished. The Sun God sat down once again and looked at the scenery with indifference.

Veritas, noticing the scene, began to feel his vision blur, he felt that the scene was shifting once more.

Thus, seconds was all it took for his sight to vanish into darkness.

*

It was a day of bliss, many stalls and shops were opened on the streets, festivities and joy filled the city of Solaurum. The people were rejoicing due to the return of the prince, Sigourde.

After a long campaign of hardships, Sigourde had finally returned home and slain the Red Dragon. His feats and achievements were celebrated by the entire city.

His carriage of luxury strolled through the active streets of Solaurum. Behind his own carriage was a large vehicle covered with sheets of cloth. He waved and smiled at his citizens, becoming a figure of hope for them.

He spent a couple moments waving and interacting with the people. To him, they were dear, this was the main driving force of his courage. He had strived for the people of his city, and the people reciprocated trust towards him.

The red mantle was brightly appealing, his steel armor showed his courage, his deep black hair swayed along with the winds, and the soft gaze of his crystal blue eyes reflected the image of the people.

"Sigourde! Visit my shop and buy some bread later!"

"Sure.. I will!"

"Sigourde! Bless my baby with your benevolence!"

"Hahaha, I'll come back later!

"Great Prince! You are so handsome!"

The connections he made with the people seemed so casual. He was a celebrity to say, and the people of Solaurum loved him!

After that, his carriage finally arrived near the castle. He saw the wide fields of grass that stretched across the horizon. He longed for this view after a long time hunting the Red Dragon.

Veritas stared at the situation and saw that the prince had been very similar to him. He saw the parallels that they had, it almost seemed exactly identical.

Only difference was their personality, Sigourde was more benevolent and kind than him. Veritas had leaned more on the calm and collected type, but harbored an inner gremlin deep within him.

Upon arriving at the castle, Sigourde thanked his guards and driver, heading inside the great castle.

Veritas noticed that the castle looked all the same, even after seeing a glimpse into the future. It had a different vibe to it, but the overall aesthetic of it was the same.

The footsteps of Sigourde echoed along the halls, a few moments had passed and he had arrived where his father was.

He saw the King sitting down a luxurious throne, Sigourde then kneeled to his father. He pushed his red mantle back and used one knee to support his stature.

"Father, I have slayed the Red Dragon."

Veritas felt petty, Sigourde had been more resolute and chivalrous when addressing his father. Veritas remembered the formal and respectful way that he used to speak to his father.

'Benevolent bastard.'

"You have done well my son.."

"Yes Father! Jal, bring it in!"

Not only that, but Sigourde brought the entire carcass of the Red Dragon with him!

Many knights and servants entered the room and brought out a massive body of a Red Dragon. It had been cut into reasonable sizes so it could fit inside the great castle.

'This bastard!!' Veritas thought.

Everyone inside had been appalled by the surprising gift brought by the prince. Before, they thought of him as arrogant, now they thought of him as great!

"He actually brought the entire body of the dragon!"

"He was not lying when he declared it with such arrogance back then."

"How utterly crazy!"

Sigourde had a smirk on his face, but had hidden it from the people. The King then laughed loudly, echoing all over the room.

"Hahaha! My Son, you are too great! You shall be rewarded handsomely for this!"

"I offer my gratitude to you, Father!"

With the joyous atmosphere prevalent inside the room, the King's laughter spread like the plague. Everyone was now laughing along with him!

"The Prince is too crazy!"

"He'd actually done it hahaha!"

"This is what it means to be a true ruler!"

Veritas looked around him and saw the smiles of those inside the room, this was what he had fought for. He smiled brightly, and bowed towards them.

Then! Suddenly, a radiant light lit up the throne room! Outside the windows, the shining light pierced the insides of the room. The light felt warm, and the people had been soothed by it.

In that light, a figure had been descending directly down towards the throne room!

It was a four-winged Seraphim!

He had a pristine white robe, and His bright golden hair was too beautiful for the people. His pale white skin, and pure golden eyes seemed otherwordly. .

Stunned by the situation, the knights couldn't even react! Except for Sigourde, he had already drawn his sword by the time the light shone towards them.

He then rushed in front of the window and directly defended it.

Everyone then heard the charming, ethereal voice of the Seraphim.

"I commend thine great efforts, O! Prince of Solaurum. I have been sent by the Sun God to guide thee!"

"Mine name's Aurelium, the Seraphim of Gold!"

The two gazed upon each other's eyes, one showing hostility and one showing brilliance.
