Fifteen days later, Freyr returned to the Russell family's castle, located by a tributary of the Emerald River on the Russell Plain. This time, the welcome was much smaller. The thousand Russell family private cavalry who escorted Freyr didn't enter the castle; they left directly after completing their task.
Freyr once again met the old butler, Spencer, whom he didn't particularly like. This time, the old man seemed much happier to see him. It was understandable—if something had happened to Freyr, the butler would have had to bear some responsibility.
"Young Master, you're back," the old butler's face blossomed like a chrysanthemum. However, to Freyr, his smile carried a hint of schadenfreude. "I have received a letter from the Count himself…"
"I know! House arrest for a year, and my monthly allowance is suspended, right? Alright, Mr. Butler, where are you planning to confine me?"
The old butler was startled and quickly said, "Young Master, your words frighten me! Who would dare to confine you? Within the castle grounds, you are free to do anything you like. You just can't step outside the castle for a year—this is the order of the family head, the Count."
"Alright!" Freyr laughed, then glanced at the butler. "As usual, I've just returned. So, tonight, I will stay in the study. Dear butler, please arrange it."
Freyr declined the servants' assistance with changing and even locked the door while bathing. Standing in front of the mirror, Freyr gently parted his hair, revealing a short, small… horn.
"That Samael… couldn't he have made this thing look a bit nicer?" Freyr sighed. It seemed he would need to be careful not to let anyone touch his head from now on.
Fortunately, the horn was small and short. As long as he kept his hair fluffy, it could be hidden… Freyr's hair was long. Also, he would need to wear a hat at appropriate times.
Looking at himself in the mirror, Freyr suddenly had an amusing thought…
Samael had given him these eyes…
Yes, the Eyes of Enchantment. To Freyr, this was definitely not some trivial magic to make women fall in love with him… it was an incredibly effective… instant hypnosis technique.
Freyr recalled the scene when he bargained with the demon's servant…
Facing a being who represented a demon, what did Freyr desire the most?
At that moment, what Freyr really wanted to blurt out was:
I want to go back!
Home! Back to the world he came from!!
That world had his parents, his friends, the girl he liked, and everything he cherished!
This world, though mysterious and magical, was ultimately not his home.
If possible, Freyr would have expressed his wish to go home without hesitation!
So, Freyr cautiously asked Samael, "Do you know any spatial magic?"
Then, Freyr asked simply, "I wonder if it's possible to use spatial magic to move me from this place to another world… I've always been curious about such things."
Samael was somewhat surprised by this.
Oh, no, it wasn't that he didn't know spatial magic.
For a servant of a demon with nearly infinite life, his knowledge was unparalleled.
What could he not know?
But Samael was curious. The pursuit of spatial magic's secrets was a dream for many super Wizards… but for a teenager, one who hadn't yet experienced the joys of life, to make such a request was baffling.
"I do know some spatial magic… but I cannot use it," was Samael's response. The demon's servant then explained briefly, and Freyr understood immediately.
"I am confined here," Samael smiled. "If I could use spatial magic, I would have escaped long ago."
It made sense.
Freyr nodded, and thus, his hope of returning home was shattered.
Fortunately, having been familiar with this world for many years, Freyr had developed a certain level of adaptability. He wasn't as disappointed as he might have imagined. After a moment of contemplation, he made his request: "Then, I want to learn magic."
Our young noble pointed to his head. "I believe I have talent in mental power. But… I have issues with sensing. I can't feel the magical element fluctuations around me."
And then…
Freyr gained a horn!
It was like… Freyr touched his head, looking at himself in the mirror…
It was like adding an antenna to a radio with poor signal reception!
This horn was Freyr's antenna! It allowed him to sense the magical fluctuations around him smoothly! Moreover, his sensing ability, due to this horn, would be far superior to other Wizards.
This was Samael's gift.
Probably because Freyr's request was so simple, so simple that the powerful demon's servant felt a bit embarrassed, Samael offered, "Your request is simple. As part of the deal, I won't let you suffer a loss, my little friend. So, I can throw in an extra gift… you can choose from the ones I just mentioned."
Oh, the choices were "Eyes of Enchantment," the powerful "Dragon's Heart," or the ability to hear others' thoughts and see through disguises…
Naturally, as a man, a most standard man!
Freyr chose the "Eyes of Enchantment."
Imagine using these eyes to enchant and captivate all the beauties in the world—it was quite evil, wasn't it?
As for the Dragon's Heart… Freyr didn't intend to turn himself into a muscle-bound brute.
