The man pulled th woman into his lap as the sat hiding within the tall grass. The woman, Darcy, covered her mouth as if it was to help her stay quiet as the man, Lione, had his arms around hher waist.
Darcy's heart sounded against her chest. She caught sight of the man who betrayed her. Esten who not only was her cousin whom she loved for many years but also the man who killed her father, right in front of her.
Lione was also betrayed. Despite every attempt to get rid of his feelings for Darcy and had in his mind that Esten and Darcy would get together, never expected Esten to betray them like this.
Darcy was the princess. With long dark brown hair, bright blue eyes and pale skin to the point that you knew she was a dependant or royalty. Esten however had shaggy blond hair, dark royal blue eyes and olive tone skin and despite being the son of the first prince Jarrod, his father was not the king. Esten had the beauty and the smarts but he wasn't to be next in line.
Lione had wanted Darcy to be happy and sever under Esten as a retainer from being from a city within the empire but all of that had shattered in one night.
Tears fell down Darcy's face and despite being held, she felt hopeless. The death of her father was only an hour old and she was currently being chased out of the kingdom but she couldn't keep it together.
"Shhh" lione said as the people left and he held Darcy in a princess hold running through the grass as fast as he could.
"There they are!" A guards voice shouted
"Don't let them leave!" Another shouted as arrows flew at the two but with his sword Lione cut them down.
"Sir Lione, over here" a voice called out and he turned to see Darcy's loyal servant Leo. The two hide as best as the could.
"I'll distract them as you go through the gate" Leo said
"But how would you do that" Lione asked as Leo took the hood of Darcy's clothing that was like a cape and put it over his body.
"No" Darcy said and pulled his arm back
"I'll be fine" Leo says "go"
Leo dashed forward as Lione pulled Darcy back. Darcy watched as a arrow towards Leo as the gate closed to the point she could not see.
"Leo" She said but Lione picked her up as the ran from the palace. Guards continued to follow them as the came upon a clif.
